Will buy any 3 minor keys for an Ist - message me.
My free items are for players who play on xbox only and are intended for new players or ones who can't afford much. Its sad I even need to stipulate this ...
Warlock is still an OP mess (which also pulls me away from D2R), and I don't see them fixing it any time soon. They tried to pack every good feature from all the other classes:
- it made hammerdin obsolete (bc it has source of magic/physical damage) - you can put 40 points and have almost full dmg potential, while equivalent paladin (foh + hammer) will need to make compromises
- barb with Berserk looks like a neglected child now compared to that, because it has less damage and defense PENALTIES for using magic damage, while warlock has ranged + area damage ADVANTAGES (barbarian: "A powerful but reckless attack that increases damage and attack rating but decreases defense rating." warlock: who cares just give it insane damage, AOE, range and 100% Pierce XDDDD)
- Warlock has 100% Pierce by default, while bowazon needs to stack Pierce with items
- it has a fire Nova that pushes enemies away for some reason (really op compared to Frost Nova, or even regular lightning Nova bc it doesn't need mana shield to work)
- it has much better summons than druids, can compete with necro easily
- add Leap Attack/semi-Teleport on top of all that as a cherry on top
- if that's not enough you also have a miasma tree that pulls enemies away from you and deals tons of magic damage that can be pierced on top (with a sunder charm that gives you LEAST penalties compared to other charms, bc of how little monsters do magic damage)
- genuinely Mary Sue character
I like that I can just do a short game or a long game depending on my situation. The game has some items that are super rare and I want to find them all like Zod. The trading is also part of it just a simple interaction with someone like that feels rewarding. Its always the same yet different the way the maps and monsters spawn. Nostalgia I think because I have played it so much over the years it just kinda grows on you it was such a difficult game when I was younger I started playing at 17 and now I am so much better at it yet I can still die every now and then unless I play Warlock or Disco sin.
Nostalgia is a big part of it. I grew up on this game and this is one example of how older people get stuck in their ways. I tried Diablo 3 once and instantly went back to diablo 2. I feel that the economy of diablo 2 and how rune words still have "Spin" chance on quality keeps the replay value very very high.
The gameplay loop of grinding and grinding to get your first Enigma creates a permanent dopamine hit each time you start playing with the armor because you been thru the trials and tribulations to get it which makes you value it so much.
I can't say it's nostalgia for me bc i didn't grow up on the game like a lot of players, i wasn't even alive during d2's peak, but my dad was and he was the one who introduced us to the game. I would say a big part of it is just familiarity for me though. It being my first arpg game i think it's just what i've come to expect from the genre. D2 just feels intuitive and satisfying to me, probably in large part due to its lack of depth compared to more modern games
Like i played poe for a little bit and really enjoyed it, but as an outsider getting into it it's just really so much content to try to wrap ur head around. Itemization and everything in that game is so cool but it's so vast that even after a few hundred hrs it still felt a little unapproachable and intimidating to me, coming from D2's more rigid systems. I totally understand the appeal tho!
