Description
Why do I see so many Cold Sorc builds recommend maxing out Cold Mastery? I thought more than -150% enemy cold res is useless, or did I misunderstand that? Youare easily able to reach this with only ~10 points into Cold Mastery.

Why do I see so many Cold Sorc builds recommend maxing out Cold Mastery? I thought more than -150% enemy cold res is useless, or did I misunderstand that? Youare easily able to reach this with only ~10 points into Cold Mastery.
Generally, final res caps at -100 which is why >"common max res encountered + 100" was generally considered useless.
However, post-sunder, CM got hit with a nerf bat and is now also subject to the 1/5th penalty on immune mobs broken via sunder which is why there is now a reason to push it as high as you can as you typically won't max out against immunes anymore and won't be pulling them past the -100 Cap (or even close to it).
Against non-immunes, yes, it is wasted. But it tends to still be worth it for those sundered immunes.
