Does weapon attack speed even matter for 'Echoing Strike'?

No data yet

Description

Hi everyone,

So I was wondering if (the inherent) attack speed of a weapon itself is even relevant for '
Echoing Strike
' on the Warlock?

From what I understand, apparently the speed with which you attack is determined by 'faster cast rate' for this skill, right?

Does it even make a difference if the weapon you use has 'very fast attack speed' or 'normal attack speed' or is all that purely determined by FCR?

Thanks in advance for your help!

You can see most of
Echoing Strike
Warlocks are now using slow but hit hard weapons, which is
Thunder Maul
or
War Pike
if they can get hands on it.

Please see the description in the database entry for
Echoing Strike
:

"Damage dealt is physical but is not tied to increased attack speed, but rather to faster cast rate. Is not tied to attack rating despite the skill adding it, yet always hits and can be blocked."

Sorry, to be completely honest I did not know that this website had more detailed info on skills like that, but you never stop learning. Thank you! :)

I knew that it was not tied to 'increased attack speed', but I was not sure about the inherent attack speed of a weapon itself, which I guess is kind of the same thing as IAS in a way?

Anyway, thank you guys!

Indeed, we have a large and growing database.

Every weapon has an inherent attack speed that can be modified ("increased") with the item modifier "increased attack speed" (ias).

The inherent attack speed of the weapon only matters in the sense that faster weapons tend to have lower damage while slower weapons tend to come with higher raw damage.

Since for ES the weapon speed is irrelevant (both, inherent and bonus attack speed) , you would hence generally prefer slower weapons. Not because they're slower but because they tend to have higher damage.

Or just ignore the speed entirely and pick the biggest dmg number. :P
