This is not a class I am familiar with (excepting my time in World Of Warcraft long ago). I had started to build a Hammerdin, because several guides rated is as tremendously powerful. But I soon realized that you just kept casting Blessed Hammer spells at an adversary and thats simply boring. I'm fine using auras to benefit damage, but want the actual weapon I hold in my hand to do damage when I whack things with it. Is there a powerful paladin build suitable for heavy Hell level use, farming etc, that utilizes both physically induced damage via my weapon, and auras/spells etc. to combine for major damage?
One person in a Baal run suggested a Dragondin with Zeal, but again, I don't know Paladins and could really use real life advice from those of you who have high level Pallys and real life experience with them. Thanks for any help in steering me in the right direction when I respec fairly soon.

the Dream and Dragon paladins are VERY expensive.
i would save ur pennies and eventually make or buy a Grief in a Phase Blade.
in the mean time buy The Redeemer, i use that on my hammer paladin. good melee weapon but also has +2 skills for added hammer damage. u only need around 5 or so points in Zeal to max out at 5 hits. u might get that from +skill items.

That only leaves Dream and Dragon. Yes, they are expensive but maybe OP has the budget for it.
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts on this. I greatly appreciate it. The Dream Paladin certainly looks interesting, and I think I could afford it. My only concern is that neither the Dream Paladin or the Dragon Paladin are even listed in recommended top endgame builds from Maxroll and Icy Veins?

For what its worth I also started out as hammerdi nbecause of the guides saying its S tier but did not really like the playstyle.
Ended up going Dream and quite liked it and the ability to swap some gear and Smite ubers to Death. It is quite high investment but it works really well.
I am now on a Frozen Orb sorc back to my origins from 23 years ago when I played as a teen.
Considering making my Pally a full Smite build just for ubers / dclones now.
But overall based on what you have said I recommend Dream Pally for sure.

In overall performance, it max skill point use.
Remember to run maxroll to find out best damage solution for mix build.
Like , pure physical , it need exceed 14200 damage. Mix solution may need go down 1 damage layer, maybe 10000-12000 and make use of light damage. I don't know the exact setup , charms , points in str, you need to use maxroll to run your exact scenario and use token to optimize it.

sometimes increase max/min damage, +1 skill, + ED will not change your performance.
In my case, physical paladin, 13000 damage. Increase ED or min-max damage , or use new physical jewel. -phy resistance. will not change performance.
It will act like you not have that. similar to ias breakpoint story.
Of course, it will work if you play 2p 3p or more.
