Description

update:
I have indeed a very old GPU (Quadro M4000)

updating nvidia driver (from Jan 2026) did not solve it

Solution from Bisu and Sulchin worked!
I renamed the data folder to data_backup and started. Blizzard automatically updated (>30GB, most likely whole game) and then it worked

maybe combination of new game files and nvidia update was needed though

---------------------

I play LoD, not rotW,
but since the update, I have graphic issues in A1, weirdly only in A1

or:

does anybody have the same issue?
I already tried to change every video setting.
Anybody got an idea how to solve this?

I have not experienced this myself. What are your hardware specs?

In the meantime update your GPU drivers if you haven't done so already.

This could be related to the ROTW Patch Rendering Bug many players on older hardware are currently experiencing.

Havent had t his one, this is weird. @D2Veteran you can edit your previous comment so no need to push a new comment if youve just posted already.

ROTW has been bug fiesta so to say. Luckily have avoided all the problems so far *knocking on wood*

Have you tried repairing files? or reinstalling the whole game again? this could just be some kind of corrupted file causing it.

EDIT:
What kind of a GPU etc. you have? hardware information could help. I got i7 with rtx 4080 and have no issues. Though using 2024 December GPU drivers :'D

Give this a try:
Backup the "Data" folder in your game directory to somewhere else.
Delete the "Data" folder in your game directory, and restart the game. Let the loading process run its course, which should generate a new Data folder with new content.

See if doing the above helps. Otherwise you can always copy the old Data folder back if you want to.

I had similar issues. My fix was to completly delete D2 from my harddisc (uninstall and delete all remaining gamedata) and make a clean reinstall. I tried to repairing the files, but it doesn't work for me.
Now all is fine except I don't have an Ice-shattering animation when killing frozen mobs. But the game runs fine.
btw it is not tied to older hardware, I have a 5080TI and on my old machine with an 1070 there are no issues at all.

Edit:
I also tried various ingame videooptions, but nothing worked
