Can't say I have. One of the best things about proper demons like Heph imo is the suicidal charging in for exceptional tanking (getting there faster than your merc -> keeping him safe, too) and such.
Sacrificing that for some broken-AI ranged mob that won't shoot half the time because the crappy ranged AI has them busy just running in circles like any A1 merc..not worth it imo, even if the theoretical dmg might be higher for some constellations.

If you are too afraid of accidentally Unsummon or Consume Demon your minion, you can use Enchant (from a weapon with charges, like Demon Limb or from a magic/rare weapon with "of Enchantment") to see the minion status

(you can buy a Wand with that suffix from vendors

Thanks to both of you! That's super useful. I'm going to check right-- Oh no. Oh nonono.
Kidding.fredkid wrote: 22 hours agoFor the modifiers you can assign Unsummon or Consume () to a mouse button and hover over your demon

For the aura level, if you know/remember the level of the Monster when you bind it, there is a formula (depending in the aura)
https://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/m ... onus.shtml
Might (at monlvl/6), Holy Fire (at monlvl/6), Blessed Aim (at monlvl/5), Holy Freeze (at monlvl/7), Holy Shock (at monlvl/8), Conviction (at monlvl/8), and finally Fanaticism (at monlvl/8)
All Auras have minimum level 1human_being wrote: 23 hours agoI mean, I don't know and I'm not going to min-max this, but this is pretty cool.

I assume there is no way to check the stats of your demon? Like the level of the aura or what modifiers it has?
I thought about using Death Mark to direct them, but on second thought, most of the ranged attack monster will use another (bad) attack at close range (without benefiting from the Multiple Shot...), or will waste time moving away from close range

Ranged chars suck because they keep running away from enemies. Teleporting gremlins suck. Shamans suck too. It's Death Mark to apply Amplify Damage and no tank. If you want extra friendlies grab a Vile Mother from act 4.
I also dislike council members (grab the cursed and try to swap ASAP for a better AI demon). They keep prancing and frolicking around you without any regard for their binder's safety. The steamrolling tank charging into fray is the best. Goatman, Lancers, Blunderbores, Hephasto, Smith, even pit lords with their useless flame jets. All of those work well.
Can trade on LoD, RotW, and Ladder/Non-Ladder
As far as I have tested:
Good:
Blunderbore, Corrupt Rogue Spearwoman, Corrupt Rogue, Vile Mother, Hephasto the Armorer
->speed and melee is good.
Okayish:
Goatman, Megademon, Overseer, Fetish, Lister the Tormentor
Bad:
Stygian Fury, Fallen, Fallen Shaman, Demon Imp, Regurgitator
-> all ranged/slow/elemental monsters are not useful.

Yeah, council members blow. That's why I say "sadly, there is no always-cursed super unique demon" because a demon that bad isn't worth even considering.Queegon wrote: 9 hours ago[..]

Pit lord types do also kinda suck though.
They spend too much time spraying no-dmg fire at stuff, rather than doing anything useful. And on top of that, they're big enough to get tele-locked as well. F those things.

I've seen some people recommending an elemental aura ( Holy Shock, Holy Freeze or Holy Fire) and Cursed, so that Amplify Damage is triggered almost instantly
But losing Conviction or Fanaticism seems like a bad trade

Wouldn't Lightning Enchanted work as a way to trigger Amplify Damage faster instead?

(if you need that...)

For warlocks using Mirrored Blades & Cleave, Fanaticism+Cursed is far superior to Holy Fire/Shock/Freeze.fredkid wrote: 8 hours agoI've seen some people recommending an elemental aura ( Holy Shock, Holy Freeze or Holy Fire) and Cursed, so that Amplify Damage is triggered almost instantly

I had Holy Shock + Cursed at one point just because i got sick of rerolling the game for a Fana-cursed Heph. Yes, its nice when entire packs of monsters get cursed almost instantly, but if you have 10 points (including +skills, not hard points) into Bind Demon your bound demon gets Extra Strong & Extra Fast added to any existing affixes, so if you have an Extra Strong +Extra Fast + Fana+Cursed Hephasto he's gonna be tear-assing all over the map like a Tazmanian Devil cursing everything in sight anyways - the Holy Shock/Freeze/Fire aura won't make much of a difference there, and the damage from any of them is pretty negligible. Holy Freeze might offer some defensive benefit, but still not comparable IMHO.
Whereas Fanaticism gives a huge boost to damage+IAS+AR by comparison, and with Fana+cursed + Sigil Lethargy you'll shred mobs of physical immunes without even a second thought towards a sunder charm.
If i was running a Fire Warlock, Conviction + Lightning Enchanted is probably what I'd look for.

The elemental auras are a perfectly fine placeholder, so you don't spend 20 minutes rerolling for perfect hephasto only to die to a bad Teleport right after, or whatever.fredkid wrote: 8 hours agoI've seen some people recommending an elemental aura ( Holy Shock, Holy Freeze or Holy Fire) and Cursed, so that Amplify Damage is triggered almost instantly

Swap when you find the better demon after.

My first priority: Cursed.
Second priority: Fanaticism.
Anything going beyond is nice to have.
That's what I do. I died twice yesterday ("We don't go to Worldstone Keep!"). Lost a really good demon the first time. Then I went on find a new one. Took me several hours... I enslaved the first demon I crossed, just to have any minion. Then bound the first unique, of course not cursed. After that, I waited for a cursed one.
Finally, I got this lady. Wrong aura, of course.

A fana-cursed meph reliably basically insta-curses the entire screen no questions asked.
Yes, dmg auras do the same thing minimally faster but the difference tends to be negligible. And Holy Shock/fire are just a complete waste in every other way.
Given, I do currently use Holy Freeze/cursed myself but that's not for the curse application, that's simply because for my build freeze just makes more sense in general. In almost any other build, I'd stick to fana/cursed or might/cursed, depending on the build and merc.

Want to get y'all's opinion. This guy survived Ubers just fine cause of the resistances, but would i probably be better going back to a Cursed Heph instead? since it's much harder for me currently to be in a position to try and farm Furnace of Pain for a Cursed pack of these guys

Is that monster type's AI actually "suicidal" enough to make that worth it as a tank?
What's the aura?
Does it come with hidden cursed?
Too many missing pieces to really judge.
Though if the answer to cursed is "no", I'd just say "yeah, replace it", regardless of the other missing pieces. Amp is too big to Sacrifice as a bonus.
Unrelated:
I finally gave Pitspawn Fouldog a go, seeing how he can be bound (even though we actually list him as an animal here). And he is just...terrible. Like genuinely bad. Slow. Sucks at cursing. Big enough to get tele-locked. Just plain bad.
Sacrificed my Heph to try him but after grinding through shards (for a measly 11 heralds and nothing of value, naturally), I needed to do something different to stop myself from going crazy. ^^

I haven't tested those guys because I haven't been able to do uber with my ladder summon warlock yet, but I think cursed is the most important aspect for summon warlock, at least. even more important than getting Fanaticism. It's almost unplayable if you run into a physical immune if you don't have cursed as summon warlock
It's Fanaticism aura, Pit Lord from Furnace of Pain so idk exactly on how suicidal an AI it has, and afaik doesn't have a hidden cursed. So yeah probably gonna go back to Heph eventuallySchnorki wrote: 1 hour agoWell, all we see here is something quite sturdy.StarhawkXIV wrote: 1 hour agoWant to get y'all's opinion. They're large enough to get stuck on tele, waste too much time on breathing fire (doing basically no dmg with it cuz..fire..) and so on.
