The best op items are often magic items, at least if you want to maximize damage.
6-40 javs, Jmod, 3-3-3 orb with 2 sockets etc.

in practical, magic orb is bad. you are choosing between 20 fcr or 1 extra facet

With 3/3/3 OP meant 3 tree skills, 3 main skill, 3 mastery. I.e. 6 to main skill and mastery.

This is the best you can get but those rares are extremely rare.

And yes, 2 sockets are max for rares, even if the base item could have more.

I run the max roll again to see difference... (it has to be magic, cannot be rare)

3/3/3 20fcr 2os vs

Eschuta's Temper 1os

3/3/3 vs 3/20 = 2 all skill beat ~ 7% more fire damage
20 vs 40 fcr = 20 fcr lost
2 os vs 1 os = 1 facet beat. 5/5

My guess, in good setup it is 10% damage vs 20 fcr trade off.
damage view, it is 10 hit kill or 11 hit kill.

Hydra fire, it is quick , yes.

and rolling magic orb is very difficult.

Also in case of rare orb. it is just lost, even if it perfect roll everything, there will be very small chance to equal or slight beat

Eschuta's Temper in defense way. it is because that rare orb can only roll 2 skill. the first 3/3/3 will become 2/3/3 . The perfect roll is 2 os that makes it win around 4% or less and trade with 20 fcr. So actually it consider as lost.

And new jewel even make the situation worse. -res has its limit.
