Some of us really hate blizztard for what they've both done and become in the past years - imo a steady decline in both gamequality and connection to fans - and me personally refuse to spend 30€ on a dlc with a single class and no new real extra content , i think it's a moneygrab .
And now i've seen that the market as been split in two, the D2R and the RoTW playerbase, and the D2R trades has reduced SEVERELY compared to how it was in previous seasons pre-rotw , and it's now almost impossible to find anything to trade .... can't even find White items listed .

Imo they need to fix this so that D2R and RoTW can trade and share games, eventho D2R owners can't play the warlock.
We still share 99.9% of the same game, there's no new content .

I can see your frustration about the price. The D2R base game has regularly been on discount for about 35% of the regular price. In a few weeks or months, RotW will definitely get a massive discount, too. (Maybe it'll be 8 or 10 €).

I think your suggestion to allow trade between d2r and d2r dlc makes no sense…
Thats why they have separate realms. Allowing one realm for both means bliz has to give free dlc updates (QoL, new uniques, rw etc) to d2r in general minus warlock class, how else would they make one realm that has all the QoL…

This post seems you are venting in frustrations due to the dlc trading community is exploding while the legacy d2r is taking a backseat, imo

I think instead of asking to combine both realms into one, wouldnt be better to just pay 25 dollars to just upgrade to the dlc? It just a measily 25 dollars.. that is just one overpriced dinner plate price in california :)

I simply don't believe that Blizztard has earned the money, they haven't in many years.
"Don't you guys have phones" was the final nail in the coffin, and it showed just how disconnected they were with the player community.

Remember this dlc takes time n resources, so expecting them to roll out for free is not possible. Hence they have 2 realms.

Regardless how disconnected they are, which is true, but what u mentioned were d3 immortal related event debacle :)

If you enjoy d2, definitely u should support them, at least the team behind d2r dlc…

So again, asking them to give free QoL minus warlock class to all d2r rez players is not doable…

Its either u enjoy and support, or move onto another arpg…

Not sure what to make of this post - most people are trading on RotW because most people are playing RotW.

As for the price of the DLC being 'worth it' that will always be subjective. Personally I think 25 dollars is a very reasonable - bordering on generous even - price for what the DLC brings to the table!

I'm the first to admit that I severely dislike nearly everything blizzard has done for years now. And very rarely do I still come to their defense on anything or feel they'd deserve it.
And even though I let myself get talked into shelling out for D4 in a drunken stupor, that one was most certainly just another disappointment and in no way worth the money.

That said, in this very particular instance, I still can't help but be very positively surprised by the new stuff.

Yes, it is utterly disappointing that it apparently didn't include a single f'in bug-fix to the long standing issues.
And yes, warlocks are OP AF and in dire need of balancing.

But what I for one was genuinely worried about was that if today's blizzard was to ever touch D2 again to expand upon it, they would inevitably ruin my favorite game of all time.
Hell, the only reason I ever bought D2:R to begin with was because they very specifically said they'll do nothing but update the appearance but otherwise stay fully true to the original game.
And yet, that fear of mine in this particular instance just hasn't come to fruition. And I have rarely been this happy to be proven wrong.

All of the QoL stuff does obviously change the interface and experience a bit but it is well within reason even for a "don't touch my game!" type like myself. And it is implemented in a very "fits in the game" manner. Is it all perfect? Of course not. But it does add something real that many have been asking for and without any significant distracting or negative impact. And that's a definite win.
Hell, after decades of pure D2 with no mods, even I today came to the realization that I kinda don't want to play without that stuff anymore.

And as far as the warlock is concerned, balance aside for a minute, it is almost shockingly "D2". I still say the visuals ended up a bit too modern and "overly polished" compared to the older stuff but not necessarily bad none the less. In terms of the actual feel and playstyle however, locks fit, act and feel just like you'd expect from a D2 class. And I'm still kind of amazed they managed to pull that off. Hell, I'd go so far as to say that in terms of "feel of play", warlocks now actually seemed like a more seamless addition than druids back in the day. Though that, too is of course subjective I guess.

Anywho, long story short, considering what they've pulled off here, which is to noticeably enhance and expand a decade old masterpiece without ruining it, $25 seems like a more than fair price imo. Yes, I know that for some, $25 is a lot more than for others but just viewing it relative to the modern-day pricing of random DLCs, "proper expansions" (rare as they are now) and full games, I wouldn't call it excessive. They (and many others) have sold a lot less for a lot more.

As for the trading, that's just the nature of it. You can't combine LoD and RotW for the same reason that we never got a combined Classic and LoD. LoD is now merely going the way of Classic as far as trading is concerned. There's no real way to avoid that while preserving LoD/pre-RotW as an option.
Just be glad LoD still has sunders for "abuse-
Conversion
" and (supposedly, I wouldn't know) still corners the bot market, meaning LoD is still a lot more active than Classic has ever been.
Realistically though, the more folks move on to RotW, the worse LoD trading will become. Especially if they do end up tuning
Herald
/sunder rates a bit to make the LoD-
Conversion
-cheese absurdity less of a thing.

FYI, Blizzard has never ever been good with communicating with their playerbase. Any long time D2 players remember well ladders lasting years. Not months..YEARS. And thousands of posts asking, pleading, begging for some kind of response went ignored.

I agree with Schnorki, the Warlock is really "D2", as if this could have been one of the original characters. My only gripe is I do not like the purple. Other than that, $25 for new character + QOL improvements was worth it.

Just the shortcuts and stacking of runes/gems alone was worth it. Cubing runes or gems is night & day difference from how it was done just days ago.

Heck now a days you can't get a good hamburger for $25,So just skip 1 hamburger pay for the update that's just $ .83 cents a day for 1 month.

i'm flabbergasted by the amount of people complaining about the price of this update, when I can think of thousands of other things that cost 25$ that gave me way less enjoyment than this update

I would gladly pay the price tag if it was possible to get the QOL in LOD.

ROTW on the other hand - I would not touch with a 10 ft pole. As Schnorki put it - I am a dont touch my game guy and giving me D3 in D2R is very off-putting.

I hate everything they added apart from the QOL stuff.

Trading may have become harder I suppose, but for Non ladder especially things went stale long before ROTW, so I dont blame it on the Xpac/DLC/ whatever you want to call that garbage.

So besides QOL and a new class, youve got new runewords, new items, upgraded
Terror
zones and new uber encounter.

Why do you hate those things? I am just curious

New runewords - Never asked for them. The game itself doesnt even need them. I even put Mosaic and Cure in this category. I do like the Flame
Helm
though not going to lie.
New Items - The D3 aspect that somehow everybody missed. Lets introduce items that have 6 rows of VARIABLE stats. Make all items
Tomb Reaver
on shrooms.
Upgraded
Terror
zones - You call never seeing a sunder charm drop Upgraded? I don't.
New Uber encounter - The fight itself is probably cool. The reward at the end? 50-50 drop chance if you know which jewel you are hunting. and a further 6 stats that all vary. Good luck hunting the rolls.

Why do you like those things? I am also curious :)
