what happens when you reach fire immunes? Ring of Fire + Fire Wave are brutal even against Fire Resistant. But Fire Immunes, whioch are thick in Hell level...what is he suppose to do?
Can be used to make Runewords:

Same as any other elemental build:
Rely on having a sunder or bring in some other form of damage.
For a lock, you get a fair bit of easy phys dmg added via a proper bound demon + merc but since both of those are largely single target, I wouldn't want to rely on just that for fire immunes, considering how plentyful those are.

A high level Apocalypse paired with more minus enemy fire res will break at least some fire immunities. For the others you need a second damage type. Scaling magic damage will not be strong enough. Maybe go for Echoing Strike or put some points into the Demon/Minion tree (one bound demon, Goatman, one consumed monster). The Corpse Explosion from Sigil Death could also help out a lot.
You could also use Death Mark to warp your demon onto enemies and Blood Boil them. Idk how viable that will be in hell, I just have one point in each for now.
My items and characters are now in the RotW realm.

I'm in the same boat here. I almost finished Normal with no points allocation (only a few in Strenght to equip some armor). I have almost 200 free and he slams everything with almost no gear.
But from Nightmare and especially Hell we have to find a way to go through.
I play from scratch this time I don't have any Sunder (I mean I have but I don't want to give him) and for Infinity... way, way long road until there - I play offline SSF.
So let's see what we can do with spells.

If you are starting from scratch without any inherited gear, then using the fire spells from the Chaos tree can easily get you through Normal and then pass Nightmare Act 3. After that, you will encounter more and more fire immune mobs. This is a common "choke point" for any fire-based caster build.
One simple solution is to switch to a Echoing Strike build, using bound demon to tank the mob, and your warlock dps away using ES. You efficiency will drop a bit since ES is not a full screen AoE skill. But it is still very OP and should get you through to the end game fairly easily.
After acquiring decent end game gear, you can then switch back to more fire spell based build if that is your favorite playing style. With good AoE damage and powerful fire resistance reduction, you could be doing fairly well clearing out TZ zones with decent efficiency. It could be something similar to the improved Armageddon Druid a few seasons ago, or even better.

Some fire immunes can be broken with Conviction aura from bound demon
You can shop daggers for Bind Demon easy in nightmare act 2 around lv 35 I think
With Bind Demon in hand(on shopped Dagger) go find Hephasto on NM in act 4(Hellforge, River of Flame), he always spawns with an aura
If he doesn’t spawn with Conviction, start new game and try again
Sometimes you’ll get a hephasto with cursed and Conviction which is really nice for that point in the game
Do not swap weapons once you have bound Hephasto, or he will perish.
Make sure to start putting points in demon tree to reach Bind Demon in the skill tree after you max out Ring of Fire, Flame Wave, Apocalypse;
That way you can upgrade your weapon without losing your Hephasto
A lot of fire immunes do get broken, but not all
For example, right after you get hephasto with Conviction, you can take on Chaos Sanctuary fire immunes in NM

OP
TY ....with the Sorc, youj can do 1 maojor and 1 backup elemental to help with immunity. The warlock, doesnt really have a 2nd element so I have been trying to figure out the process for Hell level. DSont think I really understood the whole demon tree p0roperly just from the skills listings. Need to watch some YT videos maybe. lol
Thanks for this. had thought about the principal but didnt realise Hephasto was a good target so might try this out on ladder...
Also just read that if you do this in a P8 game, he keeps his P8 health so will be a lot more durable.

I don't think this is true. Any data that supports such a claim?RMac85 wrote: 5 hours ago

Nope, just that I read it- possibly in those google AI summary so yeah fair, guess it does not
Buy sunder charm and enslave demon with Conviction aura = problem solved
The problem on ladder (season starts in less than 24h) is that unless you find an old sunder on D2:R (non-RotW) and bring it forward to RotW, you may not even find a latent sunder charm at all within the first week, maybe weeks, given the drop rates and the fact that they only drop from heralds. 5 evenings straight with focused Herald farming and not a single latent sunder charm. Yes, it's RNG, but I've seen polls about who has found a new sunder charm and not, and IIRC ~95% haven't found any at all. (though the numbers don't tell how many of those who voted actually tried to farm them and not).
Sure, you could trade for one, but given the rarity (and for old sunders, since they are unavailable to find on RotW, it's basically the reverse of the Mosaic/Cure "issue" - i.e., demand vs supply, a seller's market), it's very likely that they will be very expensive, even badly rolled ones. But we'll see, I guess.

Can you create a Char in Expansion and then transition to RotW in ladder? If yes, then in combination with the Sunder Charm situation this could result in not everyone starting with a WarlockShadowHeart wrote: 3 hours agoThe problem on ladder (season starts in less than 24h) is that unless you find an old sunder on D2:R (non-RotW) and bring it forward to RotW, you may not even find a latent sunder charm at all within the first week, maybe weeks, given the drop rates and the fact that they only drop from heralds.
After a 20 year break from D2 I started playing D2R in 2024 with my sons (9 and 10 years old)

Considering how OP pay to win the class is as the normal is by this company, doubt there is much challenge. Charms reduce immunes to not so much immunes and there it is, problem solved. Before getting said charm you might struggle but its not like warlock has no other elements. Just pick one single spell to lvl a little perhaps it would fix the immune issue until charm is obtained.Jharryl wrote: 13 hours agowhat happens when you reach fire immunes?
