Will switch when it's on sale since I like the QoL features. I'm not convinced of the warlock. The way he moves and the floating weapon are just odd to me.

D2R is nothing but a highly complex paper doll dress up simulator.

I've got 100+ crafted amulets (from cheap to gg). Let me know what you are looking for.

I came to d2r about a month ago from years of legacy. So this is a simple switch.

Feel for those in the middle of grail or at the end. Since it don't carry over :(

Well, what would you do when your kids stand before you with doggy eyes and ask: Dad, can we please please please start a Warlock together on the weekend? šŸ¤” šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜‡ šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

After a 20 year break from D2 I started playing D2R in 2024 with my sons (9 and 10 years old)

My kids are still too young, but I would love to do a family playthrough. I would even get siblings and nieces and nephews in a family demon-slaying party.

My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.

They put me in the hardcore thinking phase I haven't got one of this in decades! :D
I have strong mixed feelings about it since it's not just upgrade like it was back in the days from Classic to LoD...

Since I have multiple accounts (and well it's far too expansive to 'upgrade' all) I might buy the DLC on just one of them to basically playtest and if it doesn't work out for me I'll just continue playing normally on...on...on...how do we even call the regular D2R LoD now even? Hmmmm

Ma neeeeeeema veeeeeeeze! xd

My other accounts:

Sets & Uniques storage -- TheDoo#21101

Unicolor builds project -- Project023#2706

Extra slots for testing (maybe Dual hybrids in future) -- Project34#2914

My father's but we share it -- ZoZo#22940

I personally hate everything they introduced apart from the QOL changes.

That statement probably offends many people, but it is how I feel about a game I have been playing longer than they have been alive.

Troll offers will get Troll responses!

As for today, I still feel the content is not enough.

But some changes, like new Jewel replace 90% of build that heavily need for rare jewel. That is good design. Not sure if you can put it in merc too. People play there no longer need to purchase expensive jewel. they get another choice.

QoL and loot filter also very good...

Other than that...soso. I havent finish play assassin /druid/ham din. I feel it could be similar fun.

The trade become difficulty, I did some major purchase and it doesnt feel good, around 40% they say they no longer in lod. other 60 same like before.
Think about those 40% go in market buy something, they are face some like 50% player saying they are not willing to move to new world. And some say they can be in both side. Makes some post have to label both side ok or only lod or only warlock.

The thing upset me is that go into every trade, you need to ask first, are we in the same world?

And 99 is way too small, especially for low runes or
Perfect Gems
....My opinion is 500-2000. it sounds like suitable number.

Please be aware, all my trade is in non ladder d2r. Not warlock.

That could actually be pretty cool.
If only my job and wife would give me the time...

Not even buying the expansion if they don't add a new act, although I must admit the holy grail + stackable gems/runes ARE very tempting.
No, your magic damage sorceress is not new content enough. I can do better with hero editor.

The movement is actually pretty in line with other classes. It only seems "weirdly floaty" on the char screen.

The weapon, yeah, that is odd. Though you get used to it quick enough and stop seeing it. At least with 1-hand builds. Floating spears and whatnot..those just stand out.

With my 4 month old daughter, I just don't have enought free time to play, so maybe later.
And the complete unbalanced warlock doesn't help.

My timezone is CET/UTC+1.

I am not ready to pay 25 bucks for some QoL features that every other company gives out for free - and that Blizzard themselves are giving out for free with Diablo 4.
Yes, I could afford it, very easily - but I can afford it because I do not throw my money at companies who do shady things like that.

If they would have made the QoL improvements free for everybody I would have gouth the DLC, because I would want to support a fair company.
The way they are acting, I feel 0 incentive to give them my money.

Might come down to one of the following two scenarios:
  1. Most like it and will transfer, now or eventually. They'll leave expansion separate from old D2R, continue to develop expansion(s) and keep motivating players for forward transfer of characters. In this scenario, we should see more development as the money from new sales justifies this. Likely more paid expansions to come. Would expect similar approaches like for this one - some new things, some matter of taste, some very tempting for all. But keeping the Spirit of D2 as overdoing it will just split the community.
  2. Most do not like it and won't transfer or keep majority of time spent in pre-expansion. Then it's possible they will bring the worlds together and maybe just leave Warlock behind paywall, grant QoL for everyone to make it up to the pissed ones. In this scenario, they probably won't spent big time on further development. Maybe eventually introduce some microtransaction stuff like cosmetics or additional char slots to retrieve at least some cash for server upkeep.
Personally, Warlock doesn't catch me really, but the other stuff and especially the surprising amount of listening to feedback did. I would rather like them to keep it running, do patches and fixes and also to try new things (even if I might not like them) than to just maintain and eventually milk it in a bad way due to pressure from the bosses...

Will probably switch, unless it turns out everyone hates it.

I switched and I am not even a fan of the new stash or the warlock.

There are new runewords and new things to craft. I would have paid the cost just for 2 most stash tabs and literally no other content. I am worried they will power and convenience creep this game right into the dirt. But, I can always make an offline D2 LoD character and leave all this expansion nonsense behind, we have that option. I am looking forward to seeing the new craft stuff. The Cube is the best way to really bring new content into this game. This has always been a game of very small increases to your character and the 1-3% rolls on the new craft stuff is *chef's kiss, even for their cost.

The stash tab really hurts the heart of the D2 loot goblin experience. You had LIMITED space and that was the point. But if it gets more new people playing, sure. Inventory tetris and trying to figure out which mule has that hat I am looking for is part of this game, new people wont have this experience with this new stash.

The Warlock. This is a D3 class consulted on by D2 speedrunners. Its fine for casual play, but it is way stronger than it needs to be. It feels and plays like a d3 character. If I were playing D3 this and demon hunter would be my jam, but I'm not.

Overall, I would still say this is well worth the upgrade. If you are a casual solo farmer (me) the inventory space and new char slots are more than appreciated. I will play the Warlock once it figures out which game it is in. )))

Purchased for my 4 accounts, and I will buy on Steam later. I know people hate Blizzard, and I get that, but we ain't getting content for free.

This is one of my favorite games of all time, and I will glady spend to support it.

Well, you should consider that they not only implemented QoL features. I totally understand that people want them for free but I also understand that Blizzard uses them to motivate players to switch to RotW. Funnily, the day before the announcement I was chatting with a colleague in the office about the possibility that they might bring the Warlock to D2. I dismissed the idea out of hand because I thought introducing a new class would bring massive balancing problems and Blizzard would have to invest a ton of money to get the game balanced again. And I thought they would never be willing to do that (and my friend even agreed with me after this explanation šŸ˜‰) I was obviously wrong about the first part but I really think that most of the money on the side of Blizzard will be spent in the next months to make the game "whole" again. It would be a surprise if this project differs significantly from the proven 80:20 rule. This means you need 20% of your investment to get the thing "going" and then 80% to get it "right".šŸ˜‰
