So... What are your thoughts on this new warlock class as new ladder season starting character? Did not test by myself but... I've been reading other players' descriptions of warlock's gameplay, and it looks like he would EASILY run the entire game without any good gear (Apocalypse-build looks like a Frozen Orb sorc or a Javazon for me).

Well, some say it is worse than with the Mosaic Assassin and since they are removing Mosaic from Ladder for now it seems we have a worthy successor
Anyway, I am not playing ladder and will start a Warlock together with my sons with a nice and cosy slow playthrough.
After a 20 year break from D2 I started playing D2R in 2024 with my sons (9 and 10 years old)

Even sticking to absolute budget gear it can one hand wield Obedience (for -25% fire resistance) in a Scythe socketed by Larzuk while still running Spirit. Yeah seems probably kinda broken
Even a Mosaic sin needs to put in some effort to get those mosaics.
A lock can simply steamroll everything by himself. Easily. With no gear other than what you stumble across along the way. Or literally no gear for that matter.
The only downside to a lock is that if you want to race for 99 or the like, you will need to get lucky enough to get an early Enigma. Blade warp helps a lot with travel time (similar to a barb's Leap in that regard, just faster) but since it isn't quite as fast as Teleport and more importantly doesn't go through walls, you will fall behind any sorc and any meta with an Enigma in the overall ladder.
For non-ladder race use though, not only does Blade warp help a lot as noted above but you also end up with more run speed than most other builds, thanks to Consume adding that on top of everything else.
