Description

With LOD and D2R we were able to make a new character that was classic or expansion.
For those who upgraded, does ROTW still allow a new character to be classic or LOD expansion?

I moved a couple of mules to ROTW, emptied their contents, deleted them, made two new expansion characters to replace them, loaded them with more items, a torch and anni each, moved them to ROTW, unloaded them, deleted them, made two more and over and over again. Note, you have to leave at least on expansion char untouched to maintain your shared stash until it's empty.

Yes..... BUUUUUUUUUUT be aware the 2 are NOT compatible in any way, shape or form. The old expansion doesn't have the upgraded stash layout or QoL updates, and you cant join an expansion game if you're avatar has been changed to ROTW (and vice-versa).
Also be aware anything you dont bring over to RoTW stays in Expansion. You need to manually bring it all on various toons (incl.
Gold
). If you bring all your avatars over to RotW than anything left will still be on expansion. Load up an expansion toon, (incl. as much
Gold
as you can carry,) put it all (so items, loots, weapons, armour etc) into your personal stash and make the change. then store it into the new stash layout. For all their collective "brilliance" im not 100% certain why Activision couldn't have coded it better. It's a pain in the arse to do.... especially when I didn't realise at the time exactly what it would entail.... and im now stuck having to shuttle millions in
Gold
on a lvl1 toon at 10000
Gold
increments.

Ouch. I'm going to have fun moving all of my Anni's and Torches since we are not allowed to have more than one in the personal stash. That's another thing that should have been fixed. I get only one in inventory at a time, but it's not like I get any benefit from have 30 Anni's in my personal tab. It just means everyone has to have a shared stash tab dedicated to these two items.

I do believe your expansion (LoD) stash remains untouched, even if you convert all your existing characters to RotW, as shared stash is a separate save file from your characters. That stash is not gone when you delete/convert all your expansion characters, it should be accessible again on a new expansion character.

Don't come after me if I'm wrong though, feel free to test this first :-)

When people say "plz" because it is shorter than "please", I feel perfectly justified to answer "no", because it is shorter than "yes".

I moved all mine and all the
Gold
was left when I created a new char just to help someone transfer torches..
So yeah, your right!

Thanks for the confirmation, I figured it would be like this, as a shared stash remains even if you delete all your characters :-)

I do hope, for your sanity's sake, that you remembered to just put an entire shared stash worth of
Gold
into your personal stash first, as that one is carried over without problems. I imagine it's still a bit of a pain to keep withdrawing and depositing in increments of 10k, but unless I am severely misjudging this, it should still only take a few minutes of clicking, no? Basically you only need to create and convert 3 level 1 characters to mule the entirety over.
