Can a player with the Warlock update run in the same lobby with a player without the update?
No. Well, it depends on whether the character is converted to RotW or not. Just having the update or not is one thing, but once you have it, you can convert characters to RotW (it's done manually character-by-character, it's not automatic). RotW characters can only play with other RotW characters (whether they are Warlock or an old class doesn't matter, what matters if the character was made as a RotW character or converted to RotW). If you have the update but leave some characters as non-RotW (not converted), then those can only play with other non-RotW characters.

It's the same as non-expansion (D2 without LoD) vs expansion characters, back when they released LoD. And in D2R we still have that pre-expansion toggle for creating a "classic" char. Instead of two types of characters there will now be -

1. pre-expansion
2. legacy D2R
3. D2R:RotW

There are new warlock specific items, daggers are changed (to be able to roll warlock skills, like staffs for sorc skills), etc, it wouldn't make any sense for a RotW character to be in the same game as a non-RotW character. And yes it's been confirmed. If you try to enter a RotW game with a non-RotW character you get an error message.

This also has other consequences - realms are completely separated, so dclone status & walks are also separated.

Exactly.
The pricing is always wrong when it comes to Activision blizzard. 25€ for something like this is just idiotic and it shows the IQ of the people. Unfortunately this is what we have been taught into, buy shit quality with high price.
Also, calling people low IQ for doing what they want with their money is weird. Money is made to be spent, I don't work for nothin'.
Not everyone has the opportunity to spend money on whatever they want. I'm in Ukraine, Kharkiv. Under fire. All the money goes on food, water, and electricity. I don't have any extra money for a new upgrade.
I understand, and my apologies, I didn't mean it like that. But I can't expect something like this to be free either. It's a lot of content. LoD itself was like 35-40 bucks back in the day after D2 came out. I do wish the QoL updates were free though.

Usually looking for Runes, Essences, PGems, Tokens, Keys, etc.
Always willing to discuss and negotiate :)

@Teebling - like I alluded to above, dclone status tracker needs to be updated.

Realms are completely separated, which includes dclone status & walks.

So we will have twice the number of status trackers:

- Americas SCL non-RotW
- Americas SCL RotW
- Americas SCNL non-RotW
- Americas SCNL RotW
- Americas HCL non-RotW
- Americas HCL RotW
- Americas HCNL non-RotW
- Americas HCNL RotW
- Asia SCL non-RotW
- Asia SCL RotW
- Asia SCNL non-RotW
- Asia SCNL RotW
- Asia HCL non-RotW
- Asia HCL RotW
- Asia HCNL non-RotW
- Asia HCNL RotW
- EU SCL non-RotW
- EU SCL RotW
- EU SCNL non-RotW
- EU SCNL RotW
- EU HCL non-RotW
- EU HCL RotW
- EU HCNL non-RotW
- EU HCNL RotW

D2R Clone Hunters performed a test walk on RotW Americas SCNL last night to confirm the realm separation. NL SoJs were moved over to RotW and dclone was spawned on RotW. It did not walk for non-RotW characters.

I'm wondering if we should try to create new threads for dclone walk reports (there's been two - one used for SCNL specifically, and one used for... everything else), and have it a bit more organized?

Yep understood - waiting for new inputs from D2Emu, he's probably very busy getting everything updated too.

Most likely, so long as that player's character was created for expansion (LOD) and not the new update. Though that will probably become a rare thing, much like classic already was.

Unreal. Can't believe they went this far...

Currently about to test Steam version with offline save files from BNET version.
I assume steam is all fresh?
I.e. no account transfer/linking just to get away from the b.net app without having to start over?
So I can confirm that the Steam version uses the same offline directory as the BNET version.

I launched the Steam version, signed into my Battle.net account, and all of my offline characters were loaded in.

"C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\Diablo II Resurrected"
Aye, offline is just a matter of finding where Steam stores it.
I was more thinking about the online stuff. Certainly not starting from scratch there. :p

Wouldn't it be in the common folder in steam library? (or they put it in games/documents)

I might pick it up on Steam just to support D2R and give dev's more support for my favorite game..

The updates are promising in my opinion, but of course I have to play the Warlock version some more.

I am a hardcore player and I did play two runs in terrorized zones yesterday, one in the pits and one in the Catacombs. Some monsters were invisible, I could recognize them only because of the curse above their heads. Andarial I could not see but my Fury druid smacked her down anyway. So I stopped playing and did some invetory stuff instead. To risky as a hardcore player. I will check it out again later today. Probably some bugs have to be cleaned up.

Did anybody else experience this issue?
7
Did anybody get the "Chat is temporarily unavailable because this account is under review" issue after the upgrade?

I found this thread but nobody mentions a way to fix it yet

Do the new uniques (and rune words, sets) need to also mention that RotW is required? You can have D2R patched to 3.0 without actually having RotW, and those new uniques (certainly the warlock specific ones) won't drop without RotW, right?

Yep, coming soon once I do something else.

The only problem that I see is that I probably won't be able to trade with those on the market here if they are not running the same/new version. Am guessing there will need to be added a version flag like the hardcore/softcore flag or are all of us upgrading? (I bought it yesterday)

It's not a scam and TBH, I'd LOVE to use runewords like Bramble, Infinity. Breath of the Dying or Eternity, but you think i can find a
Ber
or
Ohm
rune? I'd have more success finding a Cure for Aids or Cancer. The chances of finding anything CLOSE to some of those runes are astronomical. I know cos i've been playing since 2002 and haven't come CLOSE to a
Ber
, let alone an
Ohm
. So it's the usual Spirit, Smoke, Prudence, (maybe if im VERY lucky i might get another Fortitude).

Blizz need to start increasing the chances of finding high level runes

(maybe start with a minimum of a
Sol
rune in Hell Tower instead of the usual low level junk... yes yes "the cow level" i hear you all say.... only ever found 1 rune there and it was an
Ort
.
I think it will be the other way around. I heard MrLlamaSC on his last night streaming that was a drop in chances to find items. I don't know if it's for runes too, but he was clear in favor of lowering chances. He even was ready to take the critics of players for that since he was a colaborator at RotW update.

Already ran into this issue today. I feel like an already dwindling player base is being segmented even further.

Great job, Blizzard! I honestly didn't expect that :D I won't be playing, as there isn't anything THAT interesting for me in this DLC, but I can certainly appreciate the work and time they've put into it. Had they created a new Act, though... :D

In time, everyone will get the DLC anyway, so nothing to worry about there. I don't see any reason for people to stay on pre-RotW, unless they're not willing to spend the 25 bucks, which is a fair price in my opinion.

Not necessarily. A fair few steam games use external locations for various settings and saves.
