Question about resistance jewel, why is light resistance more expensive?

No data yet

2

Description

Recently , I am looking for jewel a little bit...(not expensive gg type but useable and dump style)

I did some buying but find something strange. The Light Resistance. (29-35 , not 36-40 super good)

I am wondering why this type of jewel is generally more expensive than others. Most of them is 2x price of fire resistance or more overall. (poison and cold is worthless)

In my understand, this type is only work on weapon because of
Perfect Diamond
and
Um
...

Here , I am not talking about super good, fhr resistance style. It is only resistance and not so good other affinx , like rep life, damage reflect...
That is not so attractive.

The other side, 2 perfect 15 resistance all is not so expensive...That 2 x 15 = 30 fr + 30 lr. doesnt this sounds good price with same performance?
or is people only need super high light resist and doesnt need fire resistance?

These days, I don't need that much
Perfect Skull
, it is less encourage to pay in
Perfect Skull
but it will treat slightly better than
Perfect Gems
.

my guess: a pack of burning souls can 1 shot you if your lightning res is low. no fire attack can do the same...

I haven't done any reasearch on this, but if I had to guess I'd say it's because there are just fewer light res jewels on the market?

Think about it this way: you're not using Cold Res or Poison Res Jewels, nobody is, they aren't even worth 1 Junk Jewel lol. So super abundant which means supply high, cost low, right. Also, Cold out of all 4 is really more of a utility, or support, crowd control, things like that you get hit with. And poisoin is DOT, so really you would want more -% Poison time reduction. So those two are already junk.

Moving to fire. We all pretty much know about fire in this game. It burns you. And it hurts. A lot. There are also more sources of fire damage in the game than any of the sources or elemental damage. Fire is EVERYWHERE. The game compensates for this with more "natural" Fire Res in the game. Items that come to mind :
Infernostride
,
Hotspur
and
Aldur's Advance
, for example. So yeah, fire is everywhere, but we also have a lot of sources we can find fire in our gear.

So now lightning. Lightning has the highest damage output in the game right? So its not 3-5 or 2-7, its 1-10,000. Lightning is the only element really that can 1 shot you at full health if you aren't careful. so,yeah, I'd want a little extra Light Res myself to.

Otherwise I'm gonna look at the market, and I could be totally wrong here.

kind of true, totally.

But you know, there is rune called
Ort
.

it basically cover most of need for light resist 30-.

even this need cover most by
Ort
, few days ago , I search through market, I still able to see the light resist 28-30 trade between 1
Perfect Amethyst
to
Ist
. exceed 30-35 even see 2-9
Ist
.(no battle affinx, only light resist impress people, even all resistance is low style jewel)

I guess probably people does not know light resist supply is fall short. Otherwise I cant see why blue magic 28-30 worth more than
Lem
. (you can use very cheap
Ort
in armor to beat up all)

I think your supply demand view is correct...

Yes you are correct we have
Ort
. However this is how I look at it:

Jewels - Flexibility
Runes - Versitility

Meaning
Ort
is fine if you need extra Light Res and you have open sockets in a shield or armor. What happens when your open sockets are in your weapon? Then you need a jewel.

Carrying on,
Ort
is also used in various rune words, popular ones, that we are all familiar with, right? So that's what I mean about being versatile.
Ort
can do a lot, but not everything.

The flexibility in jewels, meaning, it doesn't care where you put it, it's gonna do its thing. So you can put a jewel anywhere and get the buff.

That's why you are seeing price fluxuations. There is more than just Light Res to consider.

Most jewels are garbage, nothing new here. Light res jewels are prolly sought after for the same reasons.

Why not
Ral
with fire? Bc the game gives us 1,000,000 viable sources of fire res. And enemies with cold just don't do cold damage (they freeze and chill you) and poison enemies are DOT so drink a pot and your fine.

Just my thoughts anyway. Thanks for the post! I like being able to bounce ideas around.

Happy hunting!

I might be off here, but in general the chest is a runeword while the
Helm
is a unique (or set, Guil). So while
Ort
is great for armor, it will never be used.

I use a lightning jewel in my pala head, when i do ubers

Is there ANY examples of what class could use this light res jewels in weapon ? You want, facets, speed, damage, ds, cb … sometimes indestractible , -20% rec and -25% armor . What I’m missing ?

that is also the thing I am thinking about . Look at price, there is .

In my case, it is a5 merc Last Wish + offhand weapon to fill lr gape.

however....this isnt right. Even in my use case, if I cant find reasonable pricing, I will just get 6 socket
Phase Blade
and use 6 terrible +11 full resist to easily solve problem.

the other think is people dont know it can sell at
Perfect Amethyst
pricing and dump it. But I doubt of this possibility....

I generally have same feeling like Ea pervious mention, this jewel, lr high without battle thing is similar to
Ort
. It is good but almost no where to use.

I'm guessing here but like with most valuable items, PvP?!

Players may only use things in their main stash, so they have 10x10 optional gear to optimize against opponents. Fire damage is not often used in PvP because its so easy to counter. 2x
Dwarf Star
and you are basically fine. Light damage is another thing, you might be up against a self wield Infinity and facetted griffon. So you want to switch 1 item to get 100 additional light res. That will likely be your helmet with ... I don't know... Maybe 3x light res jewels?

I've got on SCNL
- Mosaics, Cures, and Hustles
- GG crafted amulets
- Perfect uniques
- Bases

But isn't
Dwarf Star
banned in PvP versus fire sorc?

EDIT Found topic on d2jsp from 2021 that there is allowed 20% absorb, so one
Dwarf Star
is ok :)

EDIT2 I agree with vued; it is possible to reach -185 lightning resistance with specific gear: Infinity ( -55),
Conviction
(-85),
Griffon's Eye
with facet (-25), and body armour with facets (-20). Therefore, keeping a
Crystal Sword
with 6x 30 lightning resist on your off-hand is not as foolish as it may seem at first glance.
