Being naturally lazy I'm using what I consider the best all around method of keeping track of rune order. Find a good online image of all the runes and their cubing requirements, take a screenshot, load the image while I'm playing, and if I need it, hit the Windows key, and give a quick glance. It's much easier than trying to remember rune order.

Shouldn't mnemonic devices result in a proper, logical sentence or the like to make them actually easier to remember, rather than be equally challenging to remember by being a seemingly rather random combination of phrases and words, meaning you just have even more unrelated stuff to recall instead? I always found unrelated, non-coherent mnemonics harder to remember than just remembering the thing itself. With the only exception being "Soh cah toa", thanks to it being nice and short as well as earworm-level melodic.
Unless you're starting with a mind palace/walk type thing but that's a different story entirely.

That's the challenge of it after all, not to just turn it into something else but to turn it into something that's actually easier to remember.

Came up with one to remember German chancellors (since the BRD that is) just for the hell of it but having had 2 new ones since then makes it a challenge to expand logically while not changing the original/starting sentence so that can stay burned into your skull.

For the German-curious:
Alle ehemaligen Kanzler braucht sich keine Sau merken (sagt Mama).
-> Adenauer Erhard Kiesinger Brandt Schmidt Kohl Schroeder Merkel (Scholz Merz).
(And yes, I'm not counting Scheel's 9 days :P)
Fingers crossed the next one starts with an I or something so I can just slap on an "immer". ^^

(Logically translated: (Mum says) noone needs to bother remembering all former chancellors)

Similarly, still haven't actually fixed our solar system's mnemonic (Mein Vater erklaert mir jeden Sonntag unsere neun Planeten) since Pluto stopped being a planet. Or I choose to ignore it I suppose since Pluto has a right to not be forgotten. Which is itself unfair to Ceres, Haumea, Makemake and Eris. So...ah, f it.

Fun side bit:
If you actively use (logical, coherent) mnemonics in multiple languages, they not only help to remember the thing itself but actually also keep a minimum of the language and accent alive for ya. Helps me keep at least a minimum of Spanish competency for example, despite (sadly) hardly having used the language in years.

(Alternatively, simple mind-numbing random repetition also helps I guess. After decades of sorting D2 runes, I actually have that order engraved onto my brain with no mnemonics needed. Similarly, to this day, I still have a Q3 Arena CD Key memorized from by now 25+ years ago.)

In Asia, runes are simply referred to by numbers.

Good day to you partner!

OP
I have a list that I printed out and keep next to me when I play, but I was looking for a way to not need that.

xD

My grail tracker is for offline SC. I also play offline HC and recently some occasional online SC NL.

If you play long enough you get used to accessing your desktop without exiting the game. For instance let's say you've found an item that you would like to check up on. All you need do is hit the windows button on your keyboard, right click on an empty spot on your bottom tool bar, and select "Show the Desktop." Then you can open a browser, research the item, and when you're finished you can resume your game. Remember, lazy people are the world's innovators, a needed must have skill to make life easier. :D
