It was me. Sorry, amigo, I didn't think it would upset you so much.

Diablo 2 is a cruel and unfair game. But remember what happened to the heroes of the first game. The warrior turned into Diablo, the rogue became Blood Raven, the sorcerer became a The Summoner in Arcane.

Yes, evil takes over the minds of some of us and we stop seeing the difference between monsters and players in the heat of battle.

if someone flags you, why not simply quit the game instantly and start a new one?

We've likely all been there and can commiserate. And it's insane that there are people that get their kicks off of destroying another person's hard work. Sorry Brother.

However, always play with people you trust. And scroll back to town at the slightest hint of trouble.

And not to be vengeful... But, I hope you got the name.

Not a good plan... The state of Blizzard servers is always in question. Quitting the game usually won't save you from a lag Death. The same rings true here if, after quitting, your character remains in the game long enough for the PKer to get to you and kill you.

Scrolling to town, know your foe's name, re-evaluate, and if necessary, quit the game from town.

It's not a great idea to play hardcore in public games. Should always be passworded and for personal friends only. And always a good idea to have
Scroll of Town Portal
hotkeyed so you can quickly get back to safety.

Idk quitting the game always worked for me. Ive finished Hell difficulty with like 4 different characters on HCL this past season too.

I always keep scroll of TP on the
Belt
anyways, doing so means it doesnt use any cast frames. Works well in PVM hardcore when youre in a tight spot too.

Having said that, I've played HC in pub games all the time since the beginning of this season and never had any issues. Granted PC has more players than Switch but still. Maybe a couple times I've seen players go hostile and I just save and exit.

Combination of both, go to town to avoid lag Death, then log off to avoid pk

All good points and advice considered... Hopefully you have a friend in the game who, after the nuisance PKer is gone, can pick up your body. It's tough to lose the levels. However, It's worse to lose both levels and gear.
7
The most reliable way to avoid such a trouble - don't play HC.
7
I've experienced the same. Best to just leave the game and start a new one.

Hardcore Ladder / Non-Ladder

Open to reasonable negotiation :)

OP
All valid points. Was just pissed and needed to vent tbh but totally my bad on multiple fronts. I saw the hostility then "FirstTimeHC has exited game" but when he rejoined it didn't notify for some reason?

Friend had just logged so no gear retrieval, thankfully I'm poor so not much was lost. Already back to act 2 NM. I was just casually auto piloting to next wp after an eight hour sesh and we had joined an Act 3-5 walk for the fun of playing with a group. Honestly was my bad for not tp'ing... instead I had tried quitting and got laggd'd. SMH. Not my first time learning this lesson... just the first time in a few years so mostly mad at myself for forgetting there are tools that can't win a legit duel so they hunt down a happy idle farming summon drood that is 20 levels lower than them.

I hear ya. Glad to know that you are doing alright.

Some people are strange. They enjoy inflicting pain on others. This part I put upon the people in need of therapy within this world.

The other part I put on Blizzard. They must have bought their servers on an episode of Storage Wars...

Wow. It is always so lonely over there in HC. Just went there on my sorceress and there are zero PUGs. I fooled around a bit however... It made me feel like playing some GTA 5. So off to GTA Online for a time...

Pulls out the Arena War Vehicle -- Monster "Rat" Truck. Into the Arena I go!!

OP
Oh snap, haven't played gtaO in a hot minute, might have to pull that out. Still a wild west with the hacking on pc?

Lol, points for creativity @d2jsp

Oh yeah. GTAO never changes. Hack central. Just finished 4 rounds in the Arena. Such a Blast. 3 wins, 1 loss. Now I'm taking to the Bail Bonds business. Took down three bounties. Reloaded and really to take three more. Racing around the town in my Deluxo.
