how do facets work? do we have to put them in the item or is in the inventory fine? or am i mistaken that there are facets that can be included?
Sorry for the late reply!

I tried to explain this in the rules, but I guess it’s not entirely clear to everyone.

Strictly speaking, only charms are allowed in the inventory. If you want a rainbow facet, you are supposed to slot it into one of the selected gear pieces (you may alter an armor/weapon/
Helm
/shield to give it a socket if it has none, as if you had given the item to
Larzuk
). That’s the idea anyway. But lots of people have misunderstood this and just placed the facet into the inventory. I’ve been lenient and allowing it - it’s fine. I’ve even allowed it in one case where it technically would have been impossible to actually socket it (all selected applicable gear pieces were rune words), but that’s definitely an Edge case that I’m not sure I’ll allow anymore in the future.

Also, a few winners have tried to pick a facet that was already socketed into something. I.e., some facets in the list are not free to use, they are already slotted into something (the list does clearly specify this if you look closely), so they can only be won/acquired by selecting the item that it’s socketed into. Since it’s impossible to pluck a jewel from an item it’s already socketed in, I’ve been treating it as if the jewel hadn’t been selected at all.

As you can see below, each Jewel indicates if it’s already slotted into something:

I'm in CET (Central European Time), so that's UTC+1 normally and UTC+2 during DST.
My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.
My profile says Softcore, but I play both Softcore and Hardcore.
My Holy Grail Tracker is for Offline Hardcore.

oh ok cool. i added a facet to a griffens i won but it didn't have it so i figured that it was changed or that i miss understood something. did i select one that was already used in an item? seems kind of wild to be adding sockets to everything, adding a socket is super valuable in it of itself. how do u add sockets? do u have infinite socket quests? haha

i'm not sure if the item in this build is going on a merc or a character, i'll update it on the off chance i win.

Ah, well in your case you took a facet that was already socketed into another item :) You had selected a 5/5 light facet, but the only 5/5 light facet in the list is already socketed into an
Eschuta's Temper
. I see where this mistake can easily be made though - in the main item list the jewels specify whether they are socketed into something, but in the dropdown where you select what to put in a socket, it doesn’t mention whether it’s already socketed in another item. I guess it’s a flaw in maxroll’s UI.

Here, when you pick which jewel to socket an item with, it doesn't say that it's already socketed into something: But in the main item list, it does say: And here is the
Eschuta's Temper
with the 5/5:

You misunderstand, the idea isn’t that I’ll be using my own socket quests to punch holes per request, you’ll get the Honor of actually doing so yourself after you get the items from me :) Doing so in the submitted build is just to show me your intention, and the idea that jewels should be socketed in an actual item used in the build is so that you can’t just fill the inventory with all facets, that you can only take facets that actually fit in the gear that you’ve selected.

Sorry if I’m being unclear.

idk why i presumed that meant that other entrants had socketed those in their selection.

its not unclear, its just like a diablo minigame where i have to learn the game mechanics. lol
