Previously I've made a Berserker Axe based one that rolled at 408% ED and 15 to Redemption, but I don't remember now what was the base ED. Even though I can make it off of this PB, I don't see how it could be better than the zerk based. I've checked what's offered for this rune word for trading on the site, and shields are listed only. Is it because Phoenix weapons are not that popular or useable? Saving on in-game Gold for unneeded repair is irrelevant to me, especially considering how expensive this rune word is in terms of runes necessary. Can attack speed be that much of a deciding factor in this case?
Here is how it rolled on the zerk:

a perfect roll +400% ed would give ave damage 185, worst Grief ave damage 374...

If you're making a Holy Fire paladin, I recommend making Hand of Justice with this sweet base.
But if you're build works best with a Phoenix weapon, then yes I think this base works great for it.
I used Hoj, dual Dragon, and Flickering Flame for my Holy Fire paladin. This way I can run Conviction as my native aura.

I'm willing to accept other forms of currency. Like Tokens, Keys, Perfect Gems, and certain minor runes in lieu of my asking price. I'm also willing to accept rune combinations that add up to my asking price.

Thanks. Flickering Flame is already on. For shield there is an upgraded HoZ. I've been looking into Dragon, but I haven't found a decent paladin specific base shield for it. for the armor I use an upgraded a socketed Guardian Angel. Unfortunately I don't have a decent 3 OS armor base other than a superior scurub husk at 9% ED, 517 def, which feels kinda weak to be useful.
My question basically was/is whether PB's speed can adequately overcome in damage shortage, especially if it rolls much lower than the berserker for Phoenix.

No, the PB's speed is not enough to overcome the Berserker Axe's dmg increase. Using ballpark numbers, since I don't know your build, the BA has 10-15% higher DPS than the PB (assuming both rolled with the same ED). In this particular case, I personally would not use the runes to roll another Phoenix weap. Especially since the BA rolled at 408ED.bigbikefan wrote: 2 weeks agoMy question basically was/is whether PB's speed can adequately overcome in damage shortage, especially if it rolls much lower than the berserker for Phoenix.

Considering that the majority of a Holy Fire paladin's damage comes from the Holy Fire aura itself, I don't think it's fair to asses these bases via their physical damage component. At least not if you're running the setup that Knappogue mentions - physical damage is essentially unimportant in that case, speed is more important. The pulse damage is one thing, but the fire damage added to attacks benefits greatly from a faster application. But if you're not using Dragon, and you're not using Hand of Justice, I'm guessing you're using a self-skilled Holy Fire aura over one granted granted by items, and in that case the physical damage component is important, because you can't run Conviction to boost Holy Fire's damage. I'd suggest using maxroll.gg to calculate the difference in DPS with these two bases, vs various monster types (with different resistance levels vs physical & fire).
I'm in CET (Central European Time), so that's UTC+1 normally and UTC+2 during DST.

Thanks for prompt responses. With an added benefit of a 72% Flame Rift the opposition feels like melting at a pretty pace. Would it be beneficial to make a PB based Phoenix or Hand of Justice for a barbarian mercenary?

Good to see you rolled a HoJ! Sweet roll too!

Thanks, mate! I figured, the barb merc that fights along the paladin should try it. It's 2 dexterity points short right now, but I'll figure something out with a bunch of helmets I've got.
A5 Merc gets 1.5 dex points per level so youre 2 levels away. That might be a tall order depending on what level that Holy Fire Paladin is. Or it could be a few Baal runs!

No worries, it's a measly level 84 pal right now, literally inching in to level 85.
