Sadly, those folks have always been around, even back in the good old days of the original D2 and such.TheDoo wrote: 1 month agoIt's actually sad seeing more and more players are switching to the dark side and [..]
Though they do indeed seem to become worse and more common these days, across multiple games (and in other parts of life tbh).
Sad indeed.
That said, in terms of trade safety:
For any and all "reasonable" trades, just use the trade window. Yes, pulling in 10-40 items is annoying but it is neither an unusual nor an unreasonable ask from either side. Only if it actually doesn't fit the window, look for alternatives such as dropping the "down payment" that exceeds the window, doing "full window vs. item, rest then dropped", finding a well known/reputed mediator to hold the goods for you and so on. Personally, I just don't do drop trades with people I don't know/who aren't well known (and reputed) here unless they are fine with dropping first. Or unless I'm just feeling exceptionally lazy and don't really care anyways atm. ^^
The approach of "its a 60 Jah trade so trade 2 other things in between that are worth ~30 Jah each and then those 2 back for the thing they actually want" always seemed rather silly to me and I fully support anyone refusing to go that route, simply because from the flipped perspective, there are absolutely also people out there who will then stick them with the 2 lower value bits (they otherwise couldn't get rid of) and just keeping what they actually promised, leaving them with technically no much value loss but something they have 0 interest in and extra trade effort to turn that back into Jahs or whatever.
If you do stick to better known folks (at least here) though in cases of drop trades, I for one have never had any issues and have done countless such trades both, dropping first and dropping last, not only for things that are simply too annoying via the trade window (or don't fit) but also to go across modes and trade ladder for non-ladder and vice versa. But again, wouldn't drop first unless I have a solid grasp on who the other side is and whether they can generally be trusted.
