Anyone prefer playing on legacy graphics? I solely play on them. Switch over to new graphics when sharing items or need to look at advanced stats. Idk. Maybe it’s because I’m old lmao. Nostalgia?
Can be used to make Runewords:

I use the HD as the "legacy" feels a lot worse than what Im used to in original d2. Thats some very early game graphics I cant even remember.
Running every setting maxed out but the VFX quality and what ever the other VFX related was, to possibly avoid game closing on itself as engine hits object limits.

Nope. The new graphics are awesome and true to the original.
When playing Diablo 2 resurrected I prefer the new graphics over the new legacy graphic swap, because they look over pixelated and not even close to original D2 graphics. When playing offline D2 LOD 1.14d the legacy graphics are really quite good and I do prefer those.
I don't know why, but the original graphics seem to be more fluid.mhlg wrote: 3 months agoWhen playing Diablo 2 resurrected I prefer the new graphics over the new legacy graphic swap, because they look over pixelated and not even close to original D2 graphics. There is a setting in D2R that affects legacy graphics, and it does make a difference. Under Video options, at the very bottom, there's a section for "Legacy Video Options" with a toggle for Emulation mode, with three options - "Resurrected", "GDI", and "Glide".
These three options were added in 2.4 (for ladder season 1, 3½ years ago), they didn't exist originally so maybe some have overlooked that the option even exists;
The default is "GDI" and IMO it's worst of the bunch (most pixelated look). It was the only mode available at launch, and apparently enough people preferred it that when they added the other 2 modes they didn't want to change the default setting despite the devs themselves preferring one of the other modes (see the dev comment in the quote above).
EDIT: There is also a contrast setting you can play around with, but try changing the Emulation setting first, and see if it looks better to you.

- There is now an option in the Graphics Settings Menu under 'Legacy' that allows you to choose between 3 different emulation options for the Legacy game graphics. The options are 'GDI', 'Glide', and 'Resurrected'.
Developer Comments: We feel 'Resurrected' is the definitive emulation mode players should use, but we noticed feedback during PTR that some players preferred the style of legacy graphics released at launch, which did not have any filtering and most closely resembled the software rasterization of the original legacy game. We hope these emulation modes provide players the means to choose the legacy graphics they prefer.
- 'GDI' emulates the software rasterization of the original legacy game and does not apply any filtering
- 'Glide' emulates the hardware accelerated backend of the original legacy game with bilinear filtering
- 'Resurrected' uses the Glide emulation with additional fixes in place to address an artifact that would occur with the original Glide rendering

I'm in CET (Central European Time), so that's UTC+1 normally and UTC+2 during DST.
My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.
My profile says Softcore, but I play both Softcore and Hardcore.
My Holy Grail Tracker is for Offline Hardcore.

Gonna have to check this out because I can't stand how the old graphics look/feel on a non-CRT monitor.ShadowHeart wrote: 3 months agoThere is a setting in D2R that affects legacy graphics, and it does make a difference. I used to when I started playing D2R but then they changed something and now if I play it for couple of minutes my head starts to hurt (I get a headache). It's got to do something with the sharpness/colors or whatever because it's straining my eyes intensively!
Someone much smarter than me already said once: "The real value of something doesn't reflect in a number of how much a seller can ask for it, but on how much a buyer is willing to pay."
Wow, I just tried switching it from GDI to Resurrected and it looks way better. Thanks for the tip. I'm sure I'll still play with the new graphics though as I think they did a great job on them.ShadowHeart wrote: 3 months agoThere is a setting in D2R that affects legacy graphics, and it does make a difference. The old monitors were best for such graphics from technology to the size,14" or 15".
Try and play some old game with a resolution of 800x600 or even a 640x480 on a 27 inch monitor (or larger).

Yup! Sometimes I wish we could go back lol. I still have 2 CRT TVs for my old game consoles.Florian_G wrote: 3 months agoThe old monitors were best for such graphics from technology to the size,14" or 15".

enjoying legacy gfx cause my gpu went kaput
I don't play D2R with Legacy graphics (IMO it looks worse than LoD), but I do play LoD mods (such as PD2), and they often include improvements to the original graphics, such as D2GL. And it's a completely different game! No more pixelated 800×600! The animations are smooth, and even static sprites look like 3D models.
Here is an example how it looks, although a video won't capture this well; you'd need to launch D2 yourself with those graphics.

I play on my Laptop and in Lower Kurast for example the Monster do not load when porting fast. When i stop I get invisible hits out of nowhere. So I switch to old graphic and have no problems.
Take this potion of LUCK
