Can be used to make Runewords:
My understanding is that Larzuk will punch 6 holes into this. What RW would typically leverage this rolled base? Last Wish?

If you have Ist runes coming out of your ears, you can also put 6 Ist runes in it and use it on swap on a Hork Barb. Not at all uncommon actually, from what I hear.

Only possiblility to put sockets is in Larzuk, cannot put sockets in cube. And it will get 6 sockets. Or make a Last Wish or put 6 ists for a pitzerker.
Much less wasteful to use a Gull Dagger or an Alibaba. Gull with an Ist is 130%, just 50% less than that 6 Ist monstrosity, and a level 90 char with Ali baba with 2 Ist is 160%.
Fashion points then I suppose.

Grief is the better option unless you’re super rich and just wanna flex. Last Wish is cool on paper, but kinda overkill in most cases.

Grief is 5 sockets, so not possible in this case. The only 6 sockets rune words are Last Wish, Breath of the Dying, Obsession (staves only), Unbending Will and Silence.

Why can't he use the cube?
Socketing recipe doesn't work on superior items, so only using Larzuk always get you maximum available sockets, depending on item/ilvl.

Never played offline in D2R but that was possible in LoD.
