Do you count gamble or "group play" for your Holy Grail?

Do you count a unique/set obtained during gamble or during a "group play" for your Holy Grail?

OBS: "group play" here is when other players are actually close to you during the farm (so maybe they have done the kill not you ...)

I count the first, and not sure about the second one (never happened to drop a "new" set/unique during a "group play" yet...)

Both are legitimate ways of obtaining items for me.

But to be honest, most of the time I don't pick up items when it obviously was dropped from another players kill. High runes are an exception. Everybody wants them hard.

In group play, I always pick up when something drops at my feet or when other players leave it behind on purpose.

And just like you, I never found anything for the holy grail in a party game. Playing solo 99% of my time anyway...

Same is with gambling. Never found a good unique there.

Feel like anything outside of trading or gifting of items is within the bounds of grailing. Just my two cents.

From gambling, absolutely. I don't think there's any implication in "self found" about having to pay the iron price for every item.

I don't really play in groups, with the occasional exception of real-life friends, in which case we just distribute items around to whomever needs/wants them (typically not me, because I'm the Diablo addict in the group). Still, IMO there's a bit of a grey area as far as items dropped by monsters you didn't kill, but boss kills absolutely count because you probably all participated in it.

As far as that "grey area" goes, the best way to determine whether it counts is honestly how it makes you feel. We're talking about a self-imposed restriction that is entirely aesthetic, not functional, and that is all about personal gratification, so you should go with your gut. For example, I have no issue trading for "consumables" (essences, runes, gems), but any actual magic items (or bases) are out of bounds. I once traded for a

I also do my grail according to this logic

I play offline, so no group play for me, but I do count gambled items for my grail.
