Description

Context: My char is hammerdin.

I 'adapted' him do be part-smiter for Ubers and DClone and he does it very wel.
My smiter uses Grief in a 5 socketed
Phase Blade
and HoZ.

Now I will try to roll a perfect (as close as it can be) Grief for my char.

My plan is to keep 2 Griefs, and re-roll the worst one until success.
Of course, the params I am looking at are IAS and +Dmg.

My currents are:
Grief 1: 40 IAS , +374
Grief 2: 34 IAS, +398

Question:
Which one is the worst? And for future rerolls, what is the math I should do?

Im really bad at this D2R dmg effectiveness thing.
Thanks

These are the IAS breakpoints for
Smite
without
Fanaticism
:

0 9
5 8
24 7
65 6

So if you have no additional IAS on your gear, the IAS on your Grief is irrelevant. Same is for when you have a Faith merc, even the lowest IAS Grief would net maximum attack speed. I would keep the 398 one and call it a day. Or try to squeeze 40 IAS out of my gear.

The damage roll has the widest bandwidth. Chances are low, that you get another 390+ with higher IAS.

In numbers: in 57/60 you get a LOWER damage score (95% chance). In 5/10 you get a HIGHER IAS with the next roll (50% chance).

ElSolDolLol

For low items I also accept: Perfect Amys,
Ral
,
Hel
, Tokens, Keys. Please don't offer runes lower than
Pul
(with the named exceptions).

NO PM OFFERS PLEASE! BE FAIR AND WRITE INTO THE THREAD :)

The breakpoint stuff is really the
Key
point, so I'd rather stay happy with the +398. Thanks @DasNarf .

...but i hope both bases are superior with at least +10% ed because you can sell even bad rolls for much more than a plain 5os base costs

Post ur offer before adding me. No PM. Only add me if u offer bin/lf. No reply after 3 days=offer rejected
No socketing service. If u get item otherwise, retract ur pending offer. Edit ur post or post "retracted" to do so.

Another point to consider: a
Phase Blade
with 30-36% IAS requires a slvl 2
Fanaticism
aura to reach 6 FPA (the minimum). With 37-40% IAS, a slvl 1
Fanaticism
aura is required instead. In other words, if you have an
Annihilus
and are using
Fanaticism
, the IAS roll is irrelevant. If you don't plan to use
Fanaticism
, the previous reply regarding IAS breakpoints should provide you with the information you need.

worst? I'd say Grief 1 (40 IAS, +374). The +dmg is lower, and IAS isn’t as impactful for smiters compared to raw damage. For rerolls, focus on hitting that +390+ dmg range-IAS is nice, but smiters don’t need it as much. Good luck rolling that perfect Grief! RNG can be brutal, so prepare for some pain.
