Issues creating games

Hi,

for the entire day, I was having issues creating new games.
It gets stuck on the "Creating game" window and then I get I often need 3 attempts to create a new game.

Does anyone else have that?

I restarted battle.net and tried during different times of the day but that didn't fix it.

I sometime got the error message "could not leave Lobby" or something similar and I tried joining a different channel manually before creating a game.
That seems to work, i.e. no more issues.

That happened to me the other night also.

I get that one along with your connection has been interrupted, and cannot connect to the server.

It's not just a matter of creating games that has issues, it's also a matter of games not showing up when you are in the lobby looking for them.

Today i checked, a game that i had found and played in, and then later left while others were still there to complete more quests i already had, not shown in lobby no matter what.

Well, the lobby search function has been buggy/malfunctioning since release. They did improve it somewhat in one patch IIRC, but not seeing games that you are supposed to is a known issue.

But on topic, I’ve been having this issue with game creation as well (I guess, like most people). One thing I’ve found is that if you’re using the lobby to create named games, one thing that sometimes help is to change the game name after failing to create a game. Say you first try to create “mygame1”, and that fails, if you keep trying the same name it will just keep failing, but if you change it, to say “mygame2”, it might work. This is just conjecture based on observations and could just be coincidence, of course.

I have a feeling that the problem intensifies when popular

Terror Zones with short run times (e.g.

Travincal) are up and people create lots of games in quick succession.

But maybe it only annoys me even more when I lose run time on those TZs...

I have had these problems for the past 2 days. Now its pretty bad, but as the post above here says, the

Terror zone is in travi right now.
What seems to be a fix to me is to task manager the game and start up again.

That's a great point, I need to check the TZ next time I can't create a game. From my end, when I quickly change characters and create a game then I get the error. Sometimes need to restart b.net for it to work

Same here. What seems to help sometimes, at least for me, is opening a game in the lobby with pw.

I meant that both got worse than usual at the same time.

Fair enough - I can't say that I have noticed that it's been even worse than usual, but since it's a server issue it's plausible that it affects other things than game creation, of course.

Hypothesis : D4 rolled a major update on Tuesday, Blizzard might have reallocated some d2 servers to d4...

What I am seeing since a couple of days is:

- Ping fluctuations
- Exiting games, trying to open new ones and getting "this character is still in another game"
- Cannot open game Error

What helps a bit for me is not opening games via Lobby but via the Character selection screen.

Still, all's a bit annoying.

same here. nothing help

From my experience it is random, you click 2 times, doesn't work, click again it just works.
Solo play or lobby makes no difference.
Overloaded servers possibly.
