Best Merc for Frenzy Barb

Act 3 fire merc - Flickering Flame, Spirit shield, arkaine’s valour with a 5/5 fire facet, Hexfire with 5/5 fire facet.

All about that sweet high level Enchant

Sorta half joking, it’s seriously more fun and effective than you’d think.

You could then even throw on some extra fire gear and really lean into fire Frenzy as a thing…

Unironically using this with Skin of the Vipermagi on my act3 Scorch who's accompanying dragondin. Nothing like lvl 44 Enchant (lvl 47 possible at merc lvl 97) for attack rating and extra ~400 fire damage. Charging around I'm outrunning my merc more often than not, so once he enchants me I no longer care where he is -> Profit!
And the example above needs an ethereal Monarch, act3 merc never reaches 156 strength. Act3 also can't reach 155 strength for ethereal arkaine.

Act5 is the only one who can keep up with you, so Grief main (at 39-40 IAS to reach the fastest breakpoint with off-hand in 6 strikes) + Headstriker (+ Ohm or Max/ED Jewel) off-hand for the highest possible DPS.
Or Grief + Lawbringer Mythical Sword for added Decrepify values and still a lot of DPS.
Or if you want to maximize your own DPS, double Lawbringer Phase Blade and Hustle/Treachery with Cham in Arreat's Face. Sadly, Sanctuary Aura negates resistances/immunities only for the wielder. Definitely better than act2 with reaper though.

Yea never mind, i tried a Frenzy barb with 2 x 6 pfire faceted phase blades, a barb Helm (3bo, +speed) with 3 pfire facets, a Dusk Shroud with 4pfire facets, a decked out act3 fire merc, a pack full of +20-38 fire charms (with fire sunder, barb torch, anni, other stuff o round out res), decent dual leach ring, Raven Frost, cat’s eye amulet, a great rare Belt, lava gought gloves and Inferno stride Boots.

…and…

Still sux

Damage isn’t high enough to leach effectively, and the fire damage isn’t high enough to deal with the high res, but broken immunities



Another Frenzy barb variant that really should be viable just bites the dust (although i could have swapped out the Phase Blade for a couple of djinn slayers with facets in them…
