Best rune drop - forgotten tower

I run The Countess for keys so I sometimes get to more or less 100 runs. Highest runes I got so far are a couple of Ist and one Vex.

Found a Cham and two Sur in Travincal, a Ber from cows and another Ber in a jar in the Ancient Tunnels, and finally three Ohm in the Chaos Sanctuary.
Been playing NL softcore since day 1

Got a Cham 2 nights ago. Only high rune I’ve ever got in the tower.

just got a Sur rune this morning, from a pack of ghosts in the 2nd or 3rd level of the tower.

i didnt even know they could drop that high in non terrorized act 1 zones. feels pretty lucky.

Apparently the highest rune they can drop is a Ber !

Determining which runes drop where is still nebulous for me because of those specific occurances.

Icy Veins got a pretty table of what kind of runes you can expect on which act, but I imagine Area level is what really matters here. (which affects lvl of TC monsters drop... I think it's TC)

I once got a Sur in Flayer Jungle, a lvl 80 area in Hell. Tower is a lvl 77 area if area level is the same across levels.
And checking on Maxroll, they say the ghosts in the tower have a TC thats typical of Act 3 (H) Wraiths! Checks out!

The highest I've gotten from The Countess is Lo, and Ist is the highest I've gotten on the trip to The Countess.

I got a Jah once from a Devilkin in Forgotten Tower lvl 5. I read somewhere about somebody else finding a Jah from a Devilkin in tower level 5. Each lvl of The Firgotten tower increases mlvl +2. Im going to try terrorized soon.

I got a Sur in the tower last season, and it was not from The Countess directly, but it was on lvl 5.

I also managed to get a Gul rune,
possibly from some devilkins in the tower. The impression i get is that it is also important to eliminate as many monsters as possible in the tower as they too can drop runes. Sometimes better than The Countess herself as she will only drop Lo rune at the most.

my best rune drops from the tower always seem to be on the way to The Countess lol

if you are new to game and to weak to farm hell countess should i farm hell countess and cube up or is that a waste?

Waste. Dont waste your time in nightmare. Get to hell, get those levels, at least 75 and make sure you have a density destroying char to find runes. Runes drop as you kill many monsters, so it is better to stay in game and wander around high level areas, kill as many as you can than go for the bosses.

Depends on what you look for.
Until Io Nightmare Countess is all fine, so to do Spirit weapon, Insight etc. It's all fine.
Above indeed Hell Countess is the best till Um. After there are better places.

The highest rune drop for me from The Countess was an Ist, but I've gotten Ist, Gul, Vex, and Ohm from some of the mobs.

Running Hell Countess is a good way to get some disposable income. The tower is great for flawless gem drops which you can cube into perfects, which in turn will get you some Ists. Especially Perfect Amethysts. Run the tower enough and you will get Key of Terror drops which are also highly tradeable, and occasionally you will get a decent rune drop.

Dropped a Jah from tower lvl 5... can't say from which mob. No TZ, P1.

Did 100 runs when I joined this current s3 ladder, without TZ, but only got a few Fal that I combined into a Lem for a Treachery. It may be that both the old and new gods hate me to the Bone. YOLO, Trang'Oul give me strenght in these days of torelance, acceptance and inclusivness *PUKE*!
