Description

So I found myself in an odd situation, good but odd. What's better for A2 merc when you go light spec, ethereal
Vampire Gaze
(6/19/15) - What I have, or a regular Andy's (can't afford
Eth
) that I could buy?
Figure to level set that I'd
Cham
either one for CBF, but wasn't sure if the spec change and transition from Insight to Infinity would mean I should swap.
Thanks!

You have to decide what function you want your mercenary to perform. Vamp Gaze is a purely defensive item and Andy's is a pure offensive one. If you want him to be a meat shield Gaze is perfect, however if you want to max his output nothing beats
Andariel
's.

Troll offers will get Troll responses!

OP
Thanks for the feedback! Question, does the +2 skills on andy go to his
Conviction
aura? I'd think that would be important, right?
7
It should NOT apply to the Infinity aura, only his innate aura and
Jab
. The same way + skills don't work on say a Dream Paladin.

BTW - if you go the Andy route inserting a
Cham
in there will mean he will die every single time you set foot in
Travincal
. Go with a
Ral
to negate the negative fire resistance or find/trade a 15 IAS 30 Fire res jewel and just call it a day.

Troll offers will get Troll responses!

i think that if you sport the andy visage and have the runes for Fortitude armour, you would only need a 15ias/17-20fireres jewel(really cheap) to socket the andy with, that's what i did and it works wonders, i don't recommend
Vampire Gaze
on merc even if it's
Eth
, you just get bonus def, andy is best,
Crown of Thieves
(with 10 ll) comes second imo as a budget option.

V-Gaze has Damage Reduction and Magic Damage Reduction that is why it is valuable.

Relax and have fun!

If you hit strong enough, I tend to prefer Andy's as its life leech will be higher with the IAS, especially if jewelled well.

But in some situations VGaze, especially
Eth
will be better. Typically I believe with lots of archers (
Lilith
's succubi) merc can survive before making contact thanks to the DR/MDR.

And if you have a low damage weapon like Pride also (though it may be better to be even more defensive like with a Kira / G-Angel) in that case.

I like Treachery with vgaze.
I would prefere 8 LL over
Eth
.
A 8/20 is cheap.

With Fortitude ias fire res jewel and andy you have no cnbf and no reduced curse reduction from
Decrepify
.

OP
So I stuck with the evgaze so far and it's working fine, he doesn't die much and that's the point. He rocks an
Eth
Infinity and efort, so his main use is to tank while I clear the screen. Maybe if I find an eandy's I'll change over, but eh why fix something that isn't broken
