ETH Exile Base Question

Is it better to have the huge defense of a

Vortex Shield or the block chance of a

Sacred Targe?

The reliable no-range dmg of a

Zakarum Shield.

Ultimately, it is a matter of preference. But considering how ridiculously high a well geared smiter's defense already is, I always found a vortex to be completely unnecessary just to tack on even more. Hell, I don't even use

Eth. exiles (ever) and I'm still sitting well (WELL) beyond 30k defense.

But yeah:
Vortex = more def for tiny gain in miss chance of ubers and the like.

Targe = more base block for less dex needed for slight increase in vita/life instead.
Zakarum = most stable damage output.

Honorary mention to

Sacred Rondache for .5 more average base

Smite dmg.

I'm currently using an

Eth

Sacred Targe with 30 AR and I can only say that it's perfect for a Smiter, even if my char is a hybrid FoH-Smiter. I really tried hard to trade this base and yesterday I found a 45 AR

Zakarum Shield. But when all the rewuirements considered, ST is a perfect base with low str need.

I like the look of Zakarum and the damage output is nice. Might try to find one of these.

I like the look of Zakarum and the damage output is nice. Might try to find one of these.

Honestly, the only reason I would ever not use a Zakarum is if I can't find a decent one and noone's selling one either.
(Maybe I'm biased...4 shields across 2 pallies, they're all Zakarum)

Well, you have 5 elite pally shields to choose from.

One has the highest def.
The other has the highest block.
The third has the most stable damage.
And the fourth has a teeny tiny bit more damage.

And then there's the

Kurast Shield which...has a damage spread almost as massive as a vortex and is basically middle of the road on everything else. So...best at nothing, almost equal to worst at one thing, solid average at everything else, making it less than average in sum. Hands down the worst choice out there imo.

Like actually perfect, 172 def 45 all res 4 sockets.
Well I guess superior or

Eth would have been "more perfect" but still...

Still seeing if I can sell it but otherwise not a bad Spirit indeed
