Was my initial idea to convert him to a smiter once leveled, but have seen people able to do Ubers with a modified Hammerdin with a skill point in Smite/fanat.
My question is, would my build/equipment be good enough right now for the modified build?
G Face Smoke/Treachery
String/Tgods
Dracs
Cats eye/Seraphs
Dual leach/Carrion rings Goblin Toe Grief/CtA/Lifetap Wand
HoZ/Spirit
14/13 Torch
Various res/life charms
Or should I just go full smiter and make another Hammerdin?

Verdungos for vitality instead of string and ravenfrost instead of leech ring. Smite does not benefit from % life or mana steal. Maybe Um the hoz or g face for resistance depending on your %.
I recently tried converting my pure smiter to hybrid tesladin smiter and found it pretty underwhelming to be honest. And that would be much closer to pure smiter than hammerdin. Still worked but was alot slower and just not that effecient. If you're only going to do ubers a couple of times for fun could leave as hammerdin.
I think as you have Grief a pure smiter but with leftover points in Zeal/ Sacrifice will be your best bet. Can easily do crowd control around mini ubers with Zeal. Would especially recommend this if youre planning on farming the ubers regularly and selling unid torches as its alot quicker...
If quick farming is your goal would also recommend dropping Treachery and just getting 21 point Conviction aura just to fight Mephisto with. The whole swap armour proc Fade thing is a waste of time compared to a few extra seconds killing Mephisto with Conviction instead of fanatacism...
Also would recommend a Teleport amulet for Izual and lillith. Just getting to them takes too much time without it.
All you really need for ubers, even with a hybrid, is
1) Some source of open wounds
2) Some source of Life Tap
3) Enough res to survive meph
4) A decent life pool
5) Some source of crushing blow
1 and 2 are covered with dracs.
4 is easy enough for any pally.
5 isn't technically even essential but it does make a world of difference in kill speed so you do want it. With your gear list, you have plenty.
3 (res) is the only question that remains. Meph's Conviction puts you at 125 lower res than you'd normally have and his elemental attacks actually hurt. Because of that, you don't want him to take you to -25 res or something but you still want to end up with realistically at least around 50 all res (so around 275 all res base). More would obviously be better but 50ish tends to be enough to live through him reliably. If your gear doesn't offer enough res for that, 1 point in Salvation takes care of it (for you and your merc). Sure, you then lose fana for that fight but with a phase Grief, you're still only at 1 frame less than with fana so that'd not be a big deal.
