So now that I decided to make a barb, I can see the pain of using Superior Armor rune words. The highest repair Bill was 800k last I checked and I used a Ral rune to cover it. But 3 runs later another 500k Bill loomed and I like to sell Ral runes for Ist if possible. I basically have to pickup everything as a Barb to sell as I'm losing gold left and right every time I get hit. Never had this issue with Sorc/Hammerdin as they just kill things without getting hit.
What's a good armor base for Fortitude that won't bankrupt my barb? I actually have a 15ED Great Hauberk (def 577) for a Fort base but it seems like I'll be paying high repair bills. Should I just use a plain elite armor?
Or just use a normal 3 socket armor and make Treachery for my barb and then use an Eth Archon (834 def) for the Merc's Fortitude.

Can be used to make Runewords:

Don't get a Wire Fleece, looks like my dude works at a chip n dale.
OP
I actually have a 12 ED wirefleece with 4 S.
i personally like the Wire Fleece, it looks so conan-ish on the barb.
Then for your Fortitude base, go for a Sacred Armor, a true barb should be strong enough to wear it, if not him, who else should?

Fury Druid of course, noone can sport the base pauldron like a druid with his bear paw. The perfect look. Of course then you transform and never look at it again.Steccothal wrote: 2 years ago i personally like the Wire Fleece, it looks so conan-ish on the barb.

If you get a PM offer, post it in the trade. Promote healthy competition instead of settling for less.
Good point, i actually swap my Fortitude in Sacred Armor between my barbs and my druid. So, who else? It's also my choice. I made my Fortitude in a perfect Wire Fleece (555 def if I remember correctly) simply cause I like the way Barb looks wearing it. The strength requirement is also low, especially comparing to Sacred Armor, so I put more points into Vitality. And I bought this Wire Fleece for Um or Mal, while other perfect armors are much more expensive.Steccothal wrote: 2 years ago i personally like the Wire Fleece, it looks so conan-ish on the barb.

Doh, I accidentally clicked on repair all as a habit.
There goes 1 M gold .

All rune words are gonna be expensive AF to repair. Start picking up Tal runes and cube them up so you have more rals. Also if your barb can do trav runs you won’t worry about gold
Isn't the repair cost based solely on the armor / weapon base, used for making the runeword?
Nah it’s the runewords. A regular Mage Plate wouldn’t cost 80k to repair 10 durability but my Enigma mageplate does.
But is your Mage Plate a superior or a regular one?nilrem wrote: 2 years ago Nah it’s the runewords. A regular Mage Plate wouldn’t cost 80k to repair 10 durability but my Enigma mageplate does.
It is not totally about the word, it is more about the base being superior or not. I got two Fortitude, one in Archon Plate and another in sup Sacred Armor, the non sup costs some thousands per point to repair, the sup one costs around hundred thousands per point. And to be clear, repairing non sup Sacred Armor has a normal cost of some thousands, again, similar to the aforementioned Archon Plate.ALLEyezOnMe wrote: 2 years agoBut is your Mage Plate a superior or a regular one?nilrem wrote: 2 years ago Nah it’s the runewords. Said that, for sure repairing an item with a word crafted in will be more expensive than a base item without a word in it, but in case of Fortitude it is more the base that makes the repair cost to explode
Well that is news to me my bad haha. Yeah it’s a sup Mage Plate. But like I said find a character that can clear trav and your gold issues will be gone.
I made it in a perfect Archon Plate with 524 def, but it seems I got lucky to find it and also cubed 4 sockets. Have over 10k def in total and feel comfortable in p8 games. You can use any 4 os armor with over 500 def in base and it will be fine I guess.
