Skeletal mage necro - is it viable?

So I was playing around with my

Poison Nova necro, it’s a way more active play style than I was anticipating.

Anyways after you max out psn

Nova and synergies there’s still quite a few skill points left over. I’m also kinda challenging myself to make a necro that doesn’t use

Corpse Explosion, so here we are.

Anyone ever used Infinity on their merc, max out

Lower Resist and then max out

Skeleton Mage? Could use the rest of the points into psn

Nova I guess. Should be able to get to lvl 40 skelly mages pretty easily.

Is it even viable? Or just a waste of time?

Nova and poison skel mage interfere with each other. not noticeable with mobs, but v. noticeable w.

You could make sure to only

Revive non-poison mages just dismiss the green ones.

Jokes aside, I think they are pretty weak compared to the alternatives you have.

either you go full poison + skeletons or

Revive

or

full summon / Bone necro

The damage of poison

Skeletal Mage is too low.
At level 50

Skeletal Mage and

Skeleton Mastery, each poison

Skeleton deal 15.5 dps for 4 seconds.

Mages are garbage. Blizzard should give them hp and dmg bonus similar to that

Raise Skeleton gives to warriors, because they only receive it from

Skeleton Mastery, and leveling of

Skeletal Mage doesn't improve anything but defence and number of skeletons.

Agreed. Mages are turds and need reworked with more damage. I would also love to see a change making '-enemy res' act as an aura that affects all friendly summons, mercs, etc., outgoing damage, but some say that's crazy.

It's either skellies + ce (

Revive optionally), or skellies + Bone. Otherwise, poison + ce. Until we get a clear confirmation: all our poison damage isn't interrupted by our minions.
Not that it's a problem, actually: on low ppl, ce clears screens in moments. On high ppl, skellies tank n chew, you add with ce - same, just slower.

Perhaps we'll see some changes in future patches, but, for now, that skill is f**king useless as it has always been.
