Hello everybody,
I would like to know, which runes you typically pick up and which ones you ignore?
Until now I've picked up everything >= Ral. I don't need them for any runewords, only just to cube them to better ones. But, in hell it's hard to find chipped gems and meanwhile, I think it's not worth the time it takes to get some better runes.
Since many trades start at Fal, I am considering collecting only from this rune.
Best,
Zoe

Like mockingbirdreal said. I for myself collect every rune and cube them to those runes he mentioned. You get pretty good offers in ladder right now for them. You only need to search for games and be fast, when someone is searching for them. I have seen 10x Hel for Ist, 20x Sol, or 20x Ral traded between Pul - Ist, 30x Tal / Ort / Amn going between Pul - Ist , 40x Nef, or 40x Ith for Pul - Ist. Every rune before and after those runes can be cubed normally. I found Thul the hardest to trade, but its worth in mass too. Its all up to your inventory space and the right moment to sell. Farming chipped in Normal Akt 1 or 2 is always worth the time (for me and others, as long you are not really wealthy
Sol is used in crafting Blood Ring which makes it a worthy pickup. Those rings may be worth a lot. I use to skip the Dol and upgrade everything Io+ so i have a column of restockable flawed gems in one of my shared stashes. The Spirit reroll Runes make sense to store and collect on ladder, but not on non-ladder as prices for Spirit are just not worth the effort imo. I collect Tal only to upgrade to Ral. One honorable mention is Eth runes, used for Blood Boots. I switched to crafting rings, tho

About runes below Lem:
Tal, Ral, Thul, Amn for socketing normal weapons, armors, shields and helmets.
Ral, Ort for repairs, if you have need of that.
Crafting:
- Ral, for caster amulets
- Nef, for Blood Gloves
- Sol, for blood rings
- Ith, for caster belts (if you don't have Arachnid Mesh yet, but quite niche)
- Ort, for hitpower gloves (knockback, also very niche)
- Thul, I'm one of those odd ones that actually bothers with crafting safety amulets
Lum, Ko are also used for upgrading exceptional uniques to elite uniques.

I try to keep one of each below Fal in stock. You never know when someone impatient is going to offer a pretty high-level rune for your low-level rune.
Currently for NL i keep Sol Ral to trade for crafters and Nef Ort for my self to craft gloves sometimes Ith but but the Caster Belt has low value most of the times and
P Amethyst worth more to sell.
Also keeping Hel and from Io and above to make Lem or trade (sometimes i just sell to Akara for gold) prety much the rest in NL are worthless.

OP
Wow - these are a lot of good advices, and thanks for sharing your thoughts.
So, many runes are worth to pick up, not mainly for cubing, but for crafting.
Crafting is a part of the game, which I haven't paid much attention yet. Maybe, I should do this?

In addition to what’s already been said I only keep Lum and higher on my rune mule, all runes higher than Lums start to get fairly rare, and if you get a lot of them on top of rune words and cube recipes a bunch of lums, kos, and fals go a long way for cubing up to the more useful ums and ists.
