twinking with staff of kings / horadric staff / hellforge hammer ?

you can do it, but don't you need it for the quest? or is it being re-spawned if you "mess it up"?

don't want to get stuck on quest because of this attempt.

also if you use it in the quest, it's gone.

The attempt doesn't cost you anything. You can equip both, the staff and the neck so long as you have them.

That doesn't mess anything up.

You do however need to eventually combine them in order to get to

Duriel.
Alternatively, if you leech the quest off of somebody else, I do believe your staff and neck still simply disappear upon staff insertion.

Either way, you can't break anything by using them until then (used the neck on plenty of lower chars at the time).

The

Hellforge Hammer you could theoretically use as long as you want since that quest is entirely optional.

What you could also attempt is to re-drop those items in games where someone still needs the Q after you've already completed yours and to just use those. Some items can be blocked from being picked up again if you're already done with the respective Q but for those, I never actually bothered to test so..might be possible.
