Personally I'm keen to get on the ladder (not competitively though) and roll a Frost Zealot Paladin to pair up with a Lightning Sorc and just take my time, do all the ubers etc. What about you guys?

I feel like the smart play is always to start with a sorc and use that initial character to blast magicfind and then gear out an alt that way.
I like melee classes too much. Project D2 added melee splash damage to all melee weapons, so I was able to make a Zeal sorceress there and it worked pretty good. I voted Paladin but I may go melee sorc if it's at all feasible on D2R.
How viable is melee sorceress in the base game? In PD2 I was able to take it into hell without much problems, but they modified stats on all the items to give splash damage to pretty much everything. I know it's going to be full on meme-spec, but wondering how bad it's going to be with D2R itemization.
A paladin, hammerdin to be specific. I like the durability of a paladin and I don't mind charging with Vigor until I find a tele staff or ammy, until then catch me with Vigor on in the Sanctuary.
Frozen Orb is extremely efficient for Nightmare but Blizzard is more useful early on because it requires less gear and you can use the moat trick on Mephisto.
Smiter is amazing to ultimately grind Ubers and obtain Torch and you can gear one with very cheap items.
Druid Hardcore Ladder should be super fun to play but generally, Druids requires decent geat to perform well. It will definitely be a challenge.

What about after nightmare for orb vs blizz? Is the difference super or just better?
The later two responses is kind of what I have gathered from reading/videos, thank you!
Blizzard is just better generally. Don't get me wrong, Frozen Orb is a super fun build and it is quite viable. A Very solid Option is to put 10 points in Frozen Orb & 10 Points in Cold Mastery while having Blizzard maxed with all its synergies. Best of both worlds.
lol, i find it funny how many ppl chose the sorc, i will be making a sorc as well but since there is a shared stash ill be finding item's for mine while playing the druid. but then again who doesn't make more than 1 type of classes? i sure dont.
I'll be playing with friends/close community likely, and I've been aching to try a bowazon for ages, but to do that I need a Windforce (or Faith), which I'll need to obtain first somehow. Probably starting with the AT budget soso MF grind like most because of that.
I’m going the meta route. My first character will be a MF Blizz sorc which I will use to farm gear for my paladin. I’m going to level my paladin to 99 and then start on a lightning Javazon.
