Description

This is my first time playing D2R on ladder (HC, as a typical SC player...it may go poorly) and I seem to be having my usual "but SO MANY BUILDS look cool!" problem. If anyone has experience with some (especially in HC) I'd be curious to hear your recommendations.

(I spent a couple of weeks messing around with a shitty SSF SC ES warlock before the patch changes--never did find a 0S White
Monarch
even lol, but still had fun--so I planned to start with a different class...but demon lock is nonetheless looking very tempting as a safe starter.)

Considering:

Fury druid (maybe hybrid?): I needed a spare
Larzuk
and I'd never played druid, the thought of a WW in a mass of both kinds of wolves amused me, and damn but the reckless energy of Fury was fun! Playing melee with no gear while adjusting to HC seems stupid, though. Still tempted.

FoH pally: I know hammers are great, I'm on Switch and aiming them there is a nightmare so I refuse. Still a bit concerned about melee in HC, but the
Bolts
don't really count and extra res on shields/easy Spirit seems like it'd be one of the easiest starts?

Summon necro: safe and simple and steady, maybe slower farming than I'd like (also possibly boring, idk), but probably least likely to get overexcited and kill myself rushing in somewhere.

Summon lock: also seems simple and safer with things to hide behind, plus very easy Leaf start. Main downside I can see was not wanting to play lock again so soon.

Some kind of MF sorc: the farming will be great, immunes will suck until sunder, and there's a 95% chance I'll die to a careless
Teleport
. Unlikely to pick her just because I know myself too well.

What do you think of any of these builds? And what are you planning to start with?

Can be used to make Runewords:

Eitger fire sorc for leveling and targeted endgame farming, or fire/whatever warlock for leveling and mass enemy murdering endgame farming. I can't decide.

OP
The last time I played (which was quite a while ago), my main was a
Hydra
/FB sorc that I eventually changed to a
Hydra
/orb sorc (no sunder or much if any other -res%) for more flexibility...I really enjoyed both. :) (And leveled my old lock with fire, it was pretty addictive how ridiculously everything burned.)
