True but the damage was through the roof already so I figured the 33% extra tankiness wouldnt hurt when I run MF with sub par resistances. ^ ^
I guess that's what happens when literally everything on a class is through the roof...
"dmg through the roof, might as well get extra tankiness" vs. "life and tankiness through the roof, might as well get...literally anything else" vs. ... all equally valid :)
Indeed, I definitely agree with most of the nerfs. I just think they might have over-corrected some things. But its just the PTR, its not set in Stone.
It's just crazy to me how they released the class in that state in the first place. It's so over the top that it's hard to believe it wasn't on purpose. ^ ^ I mean, It's either that or gross incompetence.
Haven't played anything Blizzard since early D3 (before crossing over to PoE) so Im not sure how they are doing as a company in terms of team skill/quality.

Set is very nice indeed. -25 fire resist from 3 pieces is incredible. Add Obedience for more -fire resist or Hex fire to ignore target defense and you can pass through hell. lvl 30
Enchant
from whole set too.
Enchant
self, merc, demons party members. Awesome! New sword saves you 7 hard points if you are a mage or a boiler . You can kill bosses with it quite easy. Set parts were pretty cheap even at the ladder start. Dirt cheap now.

new season I will play warlock only. If Blizz will nerf it completely -will just go back to non-ladder. Whatever.
Yeap, thats sweet. Btw, which new sword are you referring to? Im only aware of
Dreadfang
.

Now all they have to do is make sure EchoStrike is no longer controlled by FCR, but by AS. Then you should also be able to bind 3 demons...

20 Skill points to the trash :-(
Sigil Lethargy

Removed the Damage Taken stat.
This one was the most concerning for me. Basically makes the skill useless, does it not? Summoner warlock, here, and the changes, while I understand them to bring Eldrich down a notch, seem to be a crippling nerf to summoners.

Full Summon build is nerfed?! Lmao.
EVERY warlock build was using 1p
Demonic Mastery
and 1p
Bind Demon
: Defilers for AoE,
Consume
for damage and Hephasto for Cursed and aura.
The nerf is making summoner a dedicated build, not a mandatory free addition to every other build.
I like the dedicated summoner trajectory, but don't you think removing damage from lethargy cripples the build a bit? It is already a slow clearing build. Auras I don't care. Health
Cap
.. I suppose byebye immortal demon... Lethargy is the killer for me. Couldn't make damage scale with hard points? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It still reduces defense, so may remain useful together with
Echoing Strike
making an AR check.
And also as a crowd control skill, but only on Hardcore, since no one bothers with CC on SC.

I wonder after this patch, how many would refund the warlock expansion if they could?

This is massive kick in the balls. There are stronger classes with sometimes even multiple builds even.
Mosaic assa has been strong broken OP beyond comprehension for a long time and nothing has been done to it but a tiny nerf some time ago which didnt really change enough anything.

Would be hilarious if these nerfs to warlock would cause a massive player outrage and people would not play the next season to show their minds about the changes.

There are a lot of doomsayers - but the patch notes are not even final yet, there will surely be changes based on feedback from the PTR. Some nerfs might still be adjusted/reversed, it's too early to say. The PTR begins tomorrow.

I'm in CET (Central European Time)
My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.
My profile says Softcore, but I play both Softcore and Hardcore.
My Holy Grail Tracker is for Offline Hardcore.

yes and i am 1 of the Doom sayers, if they even keep just half the nerfs and we have to make workarounds just to get the decent damage (not even OP damage anymore just decent like A tier less than S tier for a new class?? no thx), im shelfing warlocks, its a new expansion and it looks like they will be nerfing the new class so much that ill be back to sorc which will be better at farming act bosses and is also good at just farming as well.

I'm wondering if the health
Cap
means the
Jab
demons of act 5 will be closer to Heph/Lister, now, which might remove some of the advantages of the latters.

I have played much faster paced ARPGs like Path of Exile and it was fun in its own way. PoE started slow like D2 and then came 10+ years of massive powercreep. Now the chars rush through the maps in an insane pace and the whole screen blows up in massive bursts (see:
Apocalypse
).

For D2 I don't want this. First the old sunders, then Mosaic, now the powerful new sunders and jewels, and the Warlock of course, they all make the game faster and easier (powercreep).

At the very least, they need to nerf the Warlock (also
Apocalypse
, not just ES and Miasma) and also Mosaic and they are planning to do so.

The right decision!

It still offers a massive defensive advantage (enough slow to completely disable bosses like
Baal
) as well as a solid chunk of -def which helps both, summoners and multiple eldritch builds (now including ES). So it is far from useless and certainly still remains a solid 1pt wonder.

On this one, it didn't make sense for warlock to get
Decrepify
at lvl 6, when necro gets the same effect at lvl 24.

1 point for a major slow (enough that bosses flat out cannot do anything), was the biggest draw of the skill.

If anything, i'd have re-ordered the sigils so that it was rancor->Death->Lethargy if we wanted to keep the damage bonus.

This comparison is a bit off.
First,
Decrepify
is level 24.
Second, the necro gets
Amplify Damage
, the most op of all curses, at level 1.

Ah yes, confusing
Decrepify
with
Lower Resist
in skill tree placement, sorry.

it was more for the fact that both skills had a 50% slow than anything.

Admittedly,
Decrepify
also doesn't get a bigger radius levelling it up either, and is fixed at 50% extra physical damage.

I tend to think that a nerf was necessary.
- Multiplicative damage instead of additive was most likely a mistake, and removing that alone will basically divide all damage by 3 or 4. And that's a good thing.

- Most of the others (e.g. less synergies for ES), tend to agree too, though...
> Binding demon is fun, so a bit sad to make it much harder
> Using
Eth
weapons for main char was fun, so that one is more an annoyance than a strong nerf, so not very happy on this one.
> And the damage taken was also rather fun on something that is static on floor and not very large - would have simply diminished the values instead of removing fully the thing.

Anyway, before crying, let's try.

Anyone who has been playing the game for a significant amount of time knew we were playing with a broken toy and some kind of nerf had to happen. Any changes that result in lower damage are unquestionably positive, it's just a matter of degree. And to understand that, we have to test things out.

The
Bind Demon
change is good, IMO. Getting that much power and flexibility for a single point was too much. I can't even think of any other skill in the game that goes that far. The class already covers so much Ground that pushing specialization to any degree is probably good.

The most relevant changes are pretty much bug fixes, so to me, that's the worst issue: how did the warlock get released in this state?

As for anyone who returned or started playing the game by maining Warlock and thought this was normal, yeah, I get it feels bad to get your character de-powered. But there's no way the Warlock won't continue to be perfectly viable.

I only play softcore, non-ladder.
