Description

So terrorised and cleared the whole game on Saturday night and was super dissapointed with what I got for what took a few hours. Didn't expect a Latent Sunder but best drops I got was a 29 res viper magi and a couple of White berserker axes. Also only got 3 Heralds for acts 2-5 so only 2
Terror
heralds at all.

Did manage to pick up two shards in act 5 though which slightly softened the blow of how wasted it otherwise felt.

Which made me think. Are we really supposed to be teaming up to at least 3, 5 even better 7 player squads to use our shards?

I assume at P7 a full clear of the game (elites) might on average net 5 or more shards which means you could theoretically go infinite and just keep terrorizing and clearing whole games.

And if you do this, does the ire stack across the game or per player? i.e. if 5 different players each draw the ire, is the 5th one a tier 5
Terror
Herald
or just a tier 1
Herald
?

Is this what blizzard wants us to be doing?

Ire is shared between players in the same game - technically one player clearing act 1 tz could draw ire and a different player clearing act 2 tz could trigger a
Herald
from that ire. The
Herald
tier stacking is also shared. Ire and
Herald
tier is saved on the game level, not per player, so it becomes inherently shared.

If you want to know more about heralds (and everything related), you can read the following Reddit post by Pavke:

Personally do not know. Ive just sold my shards as they are more of value to me that way. Two went for an
Ist
.

But if you think about how the looting works; more players = higher chances of loot. So ofc teaming up and running the shards through is most valuable use for them. But that requires friends.

Teaming up is theoretically a good thing, as always, as it bumps up xp and drops.

However, teaming up for shards comes with even more of a cringy "but.." than the normal loot goblin hoovering.
Say you team up with 4 people and everyone gets an act. Or really 3 people as act 4 is hardly worth mentioning in that context.
That's got everyone doing their own thing in their own act, getting their own drops but an increased number of them.

Great!
In theory..

In reality, as soon as someone procs an ire, others will start chain-teleporting to trigger the
Herald
for them, regardless of who procced the ire as that part is shared across the entire game. So you can run your act 1 and proc say 6 ires and never see a single
Herald
out of them because someone in act 3 will steal every last one of them.

Teaming up with random pugs is hence VERY discouraged unless I guess you're that ahole stealing the heralds.
The only way teaming up for this would really make any sense is if you do it with friends who you know won't start chain-scouting on every ire, resulting in a more random and long-term even distribution amongst you.
