Description

Everyone's favorite 'third rail' D2 topic! I'm not going to discuss my thoughts on Enigma but instead on the skill
Teleport
. I have been playing a summon Druid this season, a build I find very satisfying. Except for one problem. No this isn't the lack of speed due to no
Teleport
(maybe I will achieve Enigma soon who knows). Rather, I find the running around a bit more mellow and/or relaxing, albeit 'inefficient' for farming. The frustration instead lies squarely within the subject of 'telestomping'. See when you have a weak class that relies heavily on your mercenary and/or summons, you are relying on D2's ancient NPC targeting mechanics. I don't even care that I can't just zoom around maps stupid fast, what bothers me is getting to a huge pack and not being able to target the superunique. Instead I feel a lack of control and have to passively wait until 'something happens'. My thought then to bridge this gap is enable a more RTS-like solution and let me actively control my summons to target enemy monsters. I realize this has a %0.000001 chance and likely hell will freeze before this were to change. But just wanted to vent about the incredible power that 'telestomping' provide to so many builds in this game and trying to figure potential solutions. shrugs

Imo no class should have
Teleport
, or everybody should have one ability to move faster.

Sorcerer has cheeky
Teleport
.
Assassin has switfly legs and tiny little toes.
Warlock has surprise attack back stab to the neck.
Paladin has a
Charge
ahoy! to the tavern.
And I forgot where I was going with this...

My point is, everybody should have a decent movement ability always to make it more fair. Ofc classes should have differences and obviously something like sorcerer youre supposed to have
Teleport
with it. What kind of a sorcerer wouldnt know
Teleport
. Im getting derailed again... Send help.

But when it comes to controlling summons... Oh you need
Teleport
100%. Summons wandering off too far then gets unsummed so youre constantly resummoning things. At least on necromancer that was a thing now and I dont want to play it anymore because of it.

Two very different topics imo.

I'm all for
Teleport
in general as it is a large part of what makes (endgame) D2 as brilliantly fast-paced as it is. Removing
Teleport
would effectively kill a lot of the traditional character, whether it was ever the intent or not.

Summoners being excessively reliant on a skill that their class doesn't offer however...yeah, that's a bit daft.
Hell, between
Blade Warp
and
Death Mark
, warlocks get 2(!) skills to handle that problem while necs and druids continue to have none. If ever they really do want to look at balancing on a broader scale, necro and druid summons and very specifically their (utter lack of) control should be pretty high up on the list.

For me, using
Teleport
depends on the build. A lot of people running Ubers use an Enigma in areas such as the
Matron's Den
to save time. Even though my Paladin's cast rate is horrid, I tried an Enigma, and while it did make it faster, it also eliminated one of the more interesting game plays in diablo, and I've had some interesting drops in the Den including a
Jah
, so I stopped using it for Uber organ collection. My Warlock inherited the Enigma and in my view that made it an even more interesting build than it already was, and with the decent cast rate of 135 he'd turned out to be an even better Tkey and Hkey farmer than my sorc. In my view it depends on the build, and is it fun to play?
