Anyone else had this happen?

Just started Act II Hell difficulty with a new char and after completing the

Radament quest wandered over to

Jerhyn's palace to trigger the next one. Was able to walk right past the guards to talk to him in the foyer without being stopped. Took me a second to even notice it then realizing the potential implications doubled back and was able to walk straight through the palace to

The Arcane Sanctuary from there. Was this always possible and I just didn't realize it or is this a genuine bug? Realize I still need to get the staff pieces but glad to have the two most

Skeleton archeriest sections of the game done in one go at least (doing WW Barb for first time and think this is the most I've ever hated them)

Seen it happen all the time in online games, which I'm not into that often these days.

Never seen it in offline SP.

Is this reproducable? This would make rushing to

Larzuk much faster, since you can "produce" 7 staffs in one run and use them in following rushes.

Do TPs to Sanctuary work with this bug?

I had it happen once before Online.. Never again had it happen, and I was the only one in the game.. I Just ran right past the guards and just went down. Should have of failed the Quest check also. Only thing I recall was I had a stupid amount of walk speed on a twinked char.

I've tried to replicate it, but never have been able.

Edit: It was on Nightmare at the time..

This actually is totally reproducible. I do not know the steps myself, but there is another on this site/forum who seemingly either knows how to, or by the way he rushes me, is accidentally consistently going around

Jerhyn. Or go anywhere near the Palace. We grab the parts, then he drops a portal in

The Arcane Sanctuary and we just blast

Tal's tomb.

I'll have to ask him, idk how he does it, but he does, and consistently. I've done prolly at least half a dozen or so with him at this point. All the same way.

Thanks to everyone for feedback. Yeah have no idea what I did, like I said caught me completly off guard. Only fairly normal amount of frw from Waterwalks. If you figure out the exact steps let us know

This is a secret worth revealing. Hope your mystery benefactor shares the love.

I will get back on this for sure. I've been playing on and off for decades, I've expereinced the online bugs in Act 2 and Act 5 multiple times (you can skip ancients and go straight to the Throne room and then go back and do antients again for xp if you're not in a rush).

So ik there are other ways to skip content. I just don't know the steps.

Meh, after 20 plus years of this game, I've done so many "legit" complete playthroughs that I feel no guilt about rushing/skipping some characters.

To me, hacking is cheating but exploitimg bugs is a legit part of any game. Totally fine to do so as long as you are not ruining the fun for other players.

If you do this in SP - OK, you can use any exploits, cheats or hero editors you want.
But on BN, due to shared economy, your exploits affect all the other players.

There are full builds based on bug exploitation. For instance: smiter. Do you think it was ever the idea of the developers that

Smite would be used to deal critical blows and that Grief on hand should increase

Smite damage by 400? The idea of

Smite to quickly

Stun an enemy and then poke em with the pointy end of whatever you got in the other hand. But this build was accepted is now one of the most favourite ones out there, specifically for running Ubers.

Maybe you and I have different views of what a bug is and what exploitation means.

And as I said before: cheating and hacking is not ok and bug exploitation only if it does not harm other players.

Finding weird and unintended ways to be quicker can be fun and challenging. It's one of the

Key elements of speed running.

Remember, "it's not a bug, it's a feature".

Gul rune kinda blows considering the effort for lvl1 to Hell Hellforge... And you get

Gul only if you're very very very lucky.


Now. This would be a cheat. Prime example:

Griffon for nothin'

Now look at them Dupe-Bros, that's the way you do it
You play Diablo on your Mad PC
That ain't workin', that's the way you do it
Griffon for nothin' and your ISTs for free
Now that ain't workin', that's the way you do it
