Out of curiosity, how? Pestilent affix 175PSD 6 sec and Anthrax is 50PSD 6sec, but then Pestilent sc of Anthrax is 451 PSD 12sec, my best-guess math is (175+50)*2 = 450 - close to 451

Favor Perfect Amethyst over Perfect Skull...
These days, I don't need that much Perfect Skull, it is less encourage to pay in Perfect Skull but it will treat slightly better than Perfect Gems.

i saw some guys fill up their inventory with 451 SC, so 50 each x 37 mean a lot of dmg - but not 50 right, it's 100 + 175 as of the mechanic mentioned by Vued above. But also might be unnecessary overkill traded off for surviablity

that 50 part is only 8.4 damage per second, it is 9 x 37.
I am not even sure 8.4 damage is stronger than 2 str or 1 max damage in case of bow amp amazon.

9 x 37 is almost same to new char full poison jewel x2 vs normal diablo. it takes several min to kill normal diablo.
In hell....it is not sounds like a good idea.

okay, when I look into cow resistance.
poison 50 can work. if you dont reduce resistance by 30 or more. 8 poison damage per second will slightly weaker than 1-28 light damage. but if you shoot only once, poison can beat up light.
conclusion, poison is better in cow.
max damage also beat poison but if it is only one shot. poison still win.

Instead, poison damage is more precise as each affix has a frame rate of damage in 256ths that is used to calculate the final damage of the charm (or jewel or whatever it may be).
Similarly, the damage done isn't "for x seconds", technically, but "for x frames".
Both are then used to calculate stats as: [frames]*[frame rate]/256 damage over [frames]/25 seconds
Results in D2 generally aren't rounded up or down but simply truncated.
Pestilent small charms have a rate of 299 for 150 frames. So 150*299/256 = 175.1953125 over 150/25 = 6 seconds. That is then truncated to get the 175 over 6 seconds it shows you.
Small charms of Anthrax have a rate of 86 for 150 frames. So 150*86/256 = 50.390625 over 150/25 = 6 seconds. Again truncated to get 50 dmg over 6 seconds.
When a charm has multiple such affixes, e.g. a Pestilent Small Charm of Anthrax, both, the rate and the frames are simply summed up.
As a result, you get a rate of 299+86 = 385 for 150+150 = 300 frames.
That gives you 300*385/256 = 451.171875 damage over 300/25 = 12 seconds.
Truncate that as usual and it leaves you with 451 damage over 12 seconds.
