Question about the Trade Page.

Maybe I do understand the reason for the 6 tabs on the trade window? Maybe I do not. Are the 6 Tabs there to help a person organize their trades? Are there 6 tabs because each tab can only hold 20 trades? ( I really would not believe 20, perhaps 50, dunno) Is it at the users discretion on how to make use of the tabs? Is this in a document somewhere?

I dunno. Please explain.

Oh. And is there a problem with my profile? Everything I do here is GRAY. My trades are gray. My post are always gray.... Everybody else get cool red. Was my account not verified properly?

Yes. Look at any other user's profile to see how they decided to organize it

Uh, do you mean these icons? If so, they only denote read/unread status.

Yes. Those Icons. Mine always say: All offers read. Mine are always gray.

The red icons say: Unread offers.

Even when I create a new trade and no one has looked... All offers read? What? No one has posted a response and they are gray.

Gray means that there has been no replies since you last opened the topic.
Red means that there has been new replies since you last opened the topic (or that you have never viewed the topic).

By definition, any new trade you create will be gray (you made it, it's gray until it has a reply in it).

If your trade listings are always gray it means nobody has posted any offers.

And I'm not complaining... However, if you go and look at this trade:

It's red until you view it. The red/gray icon is based on the person viewing it. The trade you mentioned is red for me too. If you click on it to read it, it will turn gray for you (unless it has had an additional reply since you viewed it). It will remain red for me until I read it, irrespective of when/if you viewed it, or when/if the trade creator viewed it.

Okay. So you viewed it. So it should now be gray for me when I look it up? It should now have more than 10 views. It had 10 views when I copied it. Checking.... It's at 12 and gray. You're correct. Thanks for the education.


So somehow when i create my trades... I am screwing up. Otherwise, they would not be always gray? Every trade that I have created is gray. I'll review my steps and try to avoid the malfunction.

I'll try to avoid this malfunction when posting questions to the forums as well.

There is no malfunction.

When you create a trade, it has no replies in it - it's a new trade, it was just created, it only has your OP in it. The topic itself is considered read by you - you're the topic creator and the trade topic has no replies in it from someone else, so it's showing gray for you, since you made it and it has no unread replies in it (unread by you). But if I find your trade via search/browse, it will show red for me until I click on it to read it. When I click on it, it turns gray for me as well. But it will remain red for person X, until person X clicks on it to read it. At that point, it still shows red for person Y, until person Y clicks on it to read it. Etc.

Yes, when you create a new trade it will ALWAYS be grey, because when you click 'Create' it takes you to the trade's page right away. Meaning you have just viewed it. A trade will be red for you if someone has commented on the trade page and you have not viewed the page yet. In your listings it'll have the red icon but the moment you view the page it will turn grey.
The Red/Grey icon color is tied to your account. Just because you view something as red, doesn't necessarily mean its red for someone else and vice/versa.

I do get what you are saying. It makes perfect sense. Until it doesn't. Do me a favor? Search in trade in this manner:

All listings are RED except the dude on the bottom. All have been viewed multiple times. 2 have replies and are red. All are view, all red. Only the little dude on the bottom is gray. Yes?

They're ALL red for me. Because I have not actually clicked on any of them myself, so they're unread for me.

Oh wait!! What you are telling me is that "IF" I view it... It is gray. This seems right as per what ShadowHeart was saying and what was previously determined. I get it.

Yes any thread (including trade) you haven't viewed will be red. When someone makes a new comment that thread will now be red again, even if you previously viewed it.
Think of it like the site saying "Hey, something new has happened over here you haven't seen". Its like a visual notification.

I've read "Bunch..." and this one topic => they are gray while the rest is red meaning new posts since I came last

So you'll always have the most recent on top AND red or grey to know if you've read all (grey) or not (red)
