if someone flags you, why not simply quit the game instantly and start a new one?

We've likely all been there and can commiserate. And it's insane that there are people that get their kicks off of destroying another person's hard work. Sorry Brother.

However, always play with people you trust. And scroll back to town at the slightest hint of trouble.

And not to be vengeful... But, I hope you got the name.

Not a good plan... The state of Blizzard servers is always in question. Quitting the game usually won't save you from a lag Death. The same rings true here if, after quitting, your character remains in the game long enough for the PKer to get to you and kill you.

Scrolling to town, know your foe's name, re-evaluate, and if necessary, quit the game from town.

It's not a great idea to play hardcore in public games. Should always be passworded and for personal friends only. And always a good idea to have
Scroll of Town Portal
hotkeyed so you can quickly get back to safety.

Idk quitting the game always worked for me. Ive finished Hell difficulty with like 4 different characters on HCL this past season too.

I always keep scroll of TP on the
Belt
anyways, doing so means it doesnt use any cast frames. Works well in PVM hardcore when youre in a tight spot too.

Having said that, I've played HC in pub games all the time since the beginning of this season and never had any issues. Granted PC has more players than Switch but still. Maybe a couple times I've seen players go hostile and I just save and exit.

Combination of both, go to town to avoid lag Death, then log off to avoid pk

All good points and advice considered... Hopefully you have a friend in the game who, after the nuisance PKer is gone, can pick up your body. It's tough to lose the levels. However, It's worse to lose both levels and gear.
