Tzone farm

Greetings,

I am unsure about how I should farm Tzones. In paticular I am talking about zones where an act boss is located. Take

Andariel and catacombs for instance. Is it more valueable to just grind

Andariel specifically or grind all catacomb floors for every elite pack (since the density of enemys and packs is totally insane)?

I would scratch durance of hatred since the little exploding dolls are to dangerous to grind. There it would make sense to just kill

Mephisto.


Sorry for asking. I am not familiar with Tzones yet. I read the basics on this website which helped me a lot. Yet you only have one hour on the Internet and I want to make use of it if it drops on such zones mentioned above.

Just kill Andy and

Mephisto or any other act boss in TZ runs because your odds of quality drops will be better.

my personal exp is if you're early in the game and looking for unique item to gear up, maybe fast forward to Andy and Mep - later stage magic + base + Socket (charm, jewel, ...) way more valuable and chance to drop those is higher with elite/unique mob pack especially while tz'ed

Elite packs in Catacombs give good XP and there are a lot. I use to take every elite pack on my way to

Andariel, but i do not search for them. If you don't care about XP, farm only andy.

That's right, i do so too. But think about killing council members on Level 3 and don't forget to pop chest behind meph

My general approach on TZ is to focus on Elitepacks and count them, as the normal mobs don't give much XP/time after a certain level, and to make new game when i reach some number (5-7). Big exception is

The Secret Cow Level and

Flayer Jungle because of the density.

It kinda depends on whether you're grinding for XP or MFing for gear.

If youre grinding for XP (especially >lvl 94ish) in any area where there is guaranteed elite packs (e.g. super uniques and Act bosses) you are better off going for the NON-super unique elite packs first. This is because every area has a certain amount of elite packs that spawn, and spawning the guaranteed elite packs will count towards that total. Take note that monsters spawn about 2 screens away.

For example:

Travincal spawns 6-8 elite packs on Hell. If you go straight to the council members without encountering any other uniques/elite packs, you've just used up 3 of those 6-8 elite pack spawns. Whereas if you explore the entire rest of the

Travincal without spawning the council members, you can encounter 6-8 elite packs and then kill the council members *IN ADDITION* to that. It's also worth noting that each individual member of any champion group counts towards this total as well, so for purposes of XP grinding, unique groups are better.

If we're talking just MF, like someone said above, a good way to do it is to make sure you kill any elite packs you encounter in a TZ because the drops can be quite rewarding, but don't go out of your way.

I second that. Take all elites, bosses etc. with you on your way but don't hunt down normal creeps or look for them in other levels. (Skip Durance lvl 2 because of dolls)

It's a very good balance of xp and items. If you have a very specific goal, then focussing in one or the other makes sense but this is the exception.

It's probably most effective to just kill

Andariel, however, I have certainly found good stuff from mobs on the way, and I can never seem to pass up the opportunity. At the very least, I always fully clear her room (and grab the corpse on the stake at the back wall, I've gotten good stuff from it!) I do the same with

Mephisto's room, making sure to clear out the council and pop the superchest in the back.

All that being said, TZ Andy is OP for drops so nothing beats her. It comes down to what you want to do with the time each run.
