Boots
are worth 150 jahs unless its very late of the season where jahs are worthless due to the rampant botting.

P.S
Whats the fun in getting rushed? I love to run through and gain items / levels in the progress. Its imo much more annoying to level and gear after already lvl 1 at hell act5
;)
Yeah I watched that.

Non-Ladder. You can easily find
Boots
selling for 400+
Jah
.

I am permanently no longer accepting

Thul

I call that disease in the head. NOTHING in this game is worth that many jahs.

Items routinely sell for double that. A user on this forum found a GC recently and it's worth close to 2k
Jah
. A rare pvp
Axe
sold for around $17k USD last year or the year before. Can't remember exactly.

Not to you. An item is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If someone actually offers that many
Jah
to win a bid vs others then yes, that's how much it is worth based on how rare the item is compared to how many people want it (supply and demand). Say there is only one or very few of an item with a perfect roll on every stat in the entire game and multiple people want it/them whenever they are up for trade somewhere. It's the same thing with physical collectors' items.

I'm not saying that *I* would trade for something of that value. Never in my life. I have better things to do with both my real money and my in-game "money" (runes). But someone clearly is.

I'm in CET (Central European Time), so that's UTC+1 normally and UTC+2 during DST.
My profile says Ladder, but I play both Ladder and Non-Ladder.

I'm not sure what qualifies as "filthy rich," but I've been as successful as I've needed to be to complete my builds. I've always kept and used drops I consider to be good enough and then traded my perfects for runes. For instance I've found a few 20/20 annis, and some 19/20, 19/19 annis. Since there is no functional benefit of a 20/20 over a 19/19, I sold the 20/20s for runes and used the 19/19. I've been fortunate with Uber runs and Torch drops. I've had 3 perfects, and several near perfects, and just as I did with the annis I sold the perfects and kept a few near perfects for my builds. For instance I traded my 3/20/20 Paladin torch and kept a 19/20 torch for my Uber smiter. The best you can do to get started is farm areas that you can clear quickly such as the Forgotten Towers where I've found several tradable items such as
Shako
, perfect WarTravs, Occulus, and T Keys, and in the process acquired a number of decent runes. As your builds grow in clear speed expand your runs to more challenging areas. Diversify your trades by collecting
Hel
runes and P Amethysts both of which in the right quantity will trade for
Jah
runes. Last but not least, always keep an eye on what's trading, and know what items are worth.

Please post offer in item trade before adding me on Bnet, I'm in EST time zone (E Coast U.S)

If someone is wondering what specs these super expensive items have (and for what purpose they are used), you can look them up here:

After a 20 year break from D2 I started playing D2R in 2024 with my sons (9 and 10 years old)

I can't play a lot, and not considering me very luck... (not many HR drops or no super expensive items to tell about) 🤔

But, trading
lesser/mid uniques/sets into gems/runes...
Gems/runes and some bases and into
Ist
..
And
Ist
into HR...

Was more than enough for me to achieve BIS equipment with all may chars until now 🤗🤗
(and almost all runewords self made with my bought HR 🧐)

For me it's all about trading (3 different sites on three different platforms) or crafting. For every hour I play, I probably do 3 hours of trading. I've gotten very few good runes or expensive drops in the years I've played.

The majority of the expensive drops I have gotten have been torches. Most of the times I play, it's to run ubers. I'll fill a few mule characters with keys and spend some time over the weekend running through them all. I think this is the quickest way to get some
Jah
- just need to do LOTS of runs or be very lucky.

Crafting has been good to me as well. Over the last few months, I've crafted a few 664 CTAs, 3x 40/400 15/3 Griefs. I'm doing less of these since less people seem to be playing and trading these is taking longer.

Also time, I joined this site about 3 years ago, so I've been trading for about three years. If every year you accumulate some Wealth, three years later you should be in a good place.

Do you mostly farm the keys yourself or do you buy them? At least in my experience farming them is a pain - even with a good equipped Sorc 😉
Did you therefore acquire your "Wealth" mostly by buying keys and then selling unid or good torches for a higher price than the keysets?

The latter - I buy keys all the time and sell any torch worth a
Jah
or higher. I don't farm keys myself because it takes way too long and I don't pick up most torches if they don't seem worth selling simply becuase they sit in my mule for months unless they are sorc and those I can easily give away. I don't sell unidentified, always identify. I also have a personal goal of finding my very own 20/20 sorc torch one day. Still hasn't happened but have gotten a few other 20/20 though.

On the part about min-maxing, after playing the game for years and slowly improving gear, if I stop improving gear I don't really see a point to play so I would stop. What I like about this game is that even when you have nice gear, you can still improve something or try a slight variation of the build. My pala is pretty well geared and I spend some time this week brainstorming ideas of trying out a different ring/
Circlet
combination in ubers just for funies. Getting those improved items will be pretty costly but it's part of the fun.

How is a trade of this scale even made? What stops either parties to bail and leave before all the Jahs are traded?

At some point you stop trading in
Jah
and you start trading in something of higher value like 20 life / 5 all res small charms. When those aren't enough, you start trading in 3/20/20 small charms.

Ahhh I see, that makes sense. This narrows down the buyers though right? Maybe someone doesn't have 3/2020 or 20/5 in multiples? Never traded at such prices so my curiosity has peaked! :D

Indeed, I've had trades where I had to go first buy a small charm being requested by the buyer/seller so we could trade. And similarly, I've had trades where the person says "give me a few minutes to go get the charm".

I'm nowhere near as wealthy as some people in here, but that's because I don't really find joy in stockpiling runes (beyond keeping a limited number of each), nor using it for min-maxing. Occasionally I use some of it to test some build on NL, but mostly I just end up investing it into giveaways instead lol.

In a way, this explains why I prefer ladder over nonladder. My NL characters are "done" (in my mind), and the small incremental gear upgrades you talk about (min-maxing) don't really interest me. I like big gear upgrades, and those really only happen while building up from nothing, until a point where your build is "complete". If there was no ladder/season mode there's a reasonable chance I would have stopped playing the game a year or two ago. And that's actually a bit funny thinking back - I only started the first ladder season because I wanted to make one of the new ladder-only rune words for myself (Flickering Flame). The idea was to keep playing mainly on non-ladder, I didn't see myself playing ladder every season at all. But from season 3 onward, I have barely touched my NL characters. Just a different perspective on things :)

Indeed, this game has enough dimensions to
Attract
various gamers for diferent reasons. It's why I keep coming back. I've tried to leave... many times... and I just can't haha
