Description

Do you guys know which is the weapon with no level requirement and the most possible sockets?

I thought it was
War Staff
(no requirement, 6 sockets possible).
Then I found one and it had spells on it. And lvl requirement was 24.
So I asume it always has spells (and therefor level requirement)?

The goal is to put as many as possible jewels with 20 poison damage (no level requirement) into it.
And then have the ultimate lvl1 weapon to start new chars.

Has anybody tried to socket
Horadric Staff
?
So, which weapon has most sockets while no lvl requirement?

I could be wrong, but I think most or even all the normal base weapons have no level requirement, just strength and/or dexterity requirement, luckily normal base staffs have none of them.
What you are seeing is called staff mod, is a modifier that randomly spawn on class-specific items, giving additional bonuses to the item. So all you need to do is to find a white and clean
War Staff
without staff mod.

Instead of the poison route, I saw some people using -15% req jewels + low level % ed / max jewels with 5/6 Socket high damage/requirement weapons (like
Great Maul
or
Maul
)

interesting, so it it possible to get a
War Staff
without mods.

Also interesting idea, it seems -15%, +10%enhanced dam jewels can be used with lvl 1.
For the
Great Maul
having 6 of them means Str. requirement of 11, damage 61-93
Not bad but I guess much harder to get such jewels.

It depends on what purposes you need to level up new characters for. I use assassin to level up to lvl 40 when I need a bumper for GRush. The most important thing is speed.

My setup:

Khalim's Will
(50% IAS, 40 AR) = 1lvl;
Pelta Lunata
= 2lvl;
Biggin's Bonnet
(30 AR) = 3lvl;

Burst of Speed
+
Blade Sentinel
= 6lvl;

Death's Hand
+
Death's Guard
= 6lvl
(30% IAS + 75%PLR) + (15 AllRes + Cannot be Frozen) = 8% Life Leech;

Greyform
(5% LL, +10dex (same as 50 AR) = 7lvl;
Nagelring
(75 AR) x2 = 7lvl;
Blood Crescent
(15% IAS, 15% LL, 15 AllRes) = 7lvl;

Also if u need:
Civerb's Icon
(40% mana regen) = 9lvl;
Umbral Disk
(10 dex, Hit Blinds Target) = 9lvl.

This gear is enough to level up to 15 on 8ppl.

Next step: Iratha's Finery +
Raven Claw
+
Cow King's Hooves
.

Good day to you partner!

The best weapon with no level requirement and maximum sockets is the
War Staff
(6 sockets). However, if it has spells, it will have a level requirement of 24. Alternatively, u can consider a Ghostly Staff (4 sockets) with no level requirement.

Cristal sword can have 6 sockets at level 1

Crystal Sword
also has low durability I think.

Staffs are fine, but finding one with no skills might be an issue.

The bigger issue is most items found in normal will be too low of an item level to get the maximum number of 6 sockets, even if it is possible on that weapon type.

I second the post that has maxroll gg link. (or you can look for a d2jsp link if you can find it). It has a list with maximum possible sockets for each item by item level. (<=25,26-40,41+). As long as the Area Level matches the Item Level you want, you should be fine with anything that drops from monsters there.

Personally, if you can find a
Long Bow
in nightmare, that would be best. Lowest bow requirements besides
Short Bow
, max sockets, ranged for squishy characters, and no durability since you use
Arrows
which are plentiful. (And you can always cube 2 quivers of
Bolts
as well).

Keep in mind you can also use these on armor. Find a low str requirement
Mask
with 3 sockets and something like a
Light Plate
with four sockets. Same deal, make sure the item level is high enough (use link mentioned above).

The ideia is not the low level character drop the weapon or the jewels...
(It is actually impossible to drop a weapon with enough ilvl to have 5-6 sockets on Normal, and just a few can have enough
ilvl to have 4 Sockets and only on act 5 and Cows)

The idea is a high level character drop a normal 5-6 socket weapon and the jewels, and use it to create a "super weapon" for your next low level character 😉

Exactly this. That's how I leveled my new char. BTW, 5 socked
Long Bow
with 5 x 20 poison jewels is dominating in P8 act1.

This is the best one I got so far.

I'm aware. I was implying that the "normal" item (not exceptional or elite) would still have to be found in a place with a sufficiently high Area Level. So late Act 5 Normal (maybe earlier if dropped from a Super Unique or Boss) or Nightmare. In otherwords, I was just letting people know not to waste their time with a
Crystal Sword
from Act 2 Normal. (The same thing goes for anyone trying to get a 4os
Crystal Sword
to make Spirit.) Too low Area Level=low Item Level=No Bueno for sockets. That's assuming you
Larzuk
or cube it. If you just find the drop, cool. But RNG can be a pain sometimes.

Oh yeah, you're right. I was looking at it recently because I was going to do the same thing, but realized all the normal 4os armors would have strength requirements that were too high in my opinion. So I settled on
Light Plate
for the all around defense, sockets, and low strength requirement. So yeah, my bad.
