Alright, so I've been thinking.
With the existence of sunder charms is Infinity even needed on a Demon Machine sorceress/enchantress build any more?
I know from past experience that it basically was back in the day u less you want to swap lower res wands and Call To Arms frequently. Or party up with a paladin or neuro.
But I mean as it stands only a handful of enemies are not one shotted now. (P1).
-Lister and his family
-Oblivion knights
-flame spiders
-named council members
-probably stuff in uber Tristam (the elemental immune guys definitly).
(Obviously 3/4 of the big butt bosses)
Gear loadout-
Flickering Flame (mine is a -10 res one)
Duriel's Shell
Demon Machine( Shael)
Metalgrid
Bull-kathos' wedding band
Bull-kathos'ring
Nature's Peace
Razortail
Magefist
Aldur's Advance
Switch weapon
Call To Arms on a Phase Blade
Spirit Monarch
Cube weapons
+3 fire skill talisman
Hexfire
(I don't really bother with using them anymore as the additional damage seems irrelevant dead in one hit is dead in one hit, and Call To Arms needs to be cast every 2 minutes).
Current merc: Frenzy Barbarian
Tal Rasha's Helm
Torso armour-irrelivant never had him come close to dying, aside from Dclone
Law bringer (unequipped during Arcane Sanctuary)
Headstriker
(I have other options for his weapons crafted, I just basically don't exactly care. Unbending Will, Kingslayer, Grief, etc..)
Don't get me wrong, the magic find here is basically 0. I also, don't really bother with the Pandemonium Event with her. Just rune farming and long walk clears.
Well, there ya go:
So, is it worth it, in your opinion? Or is it just an additional layer of overkill? How about on players 8?
I don't play anything more than p2 usually though.
Well, that's me. Signing off.

I would say a big yes to Infinity
an extra -85 resist to non-immunes and -17 to immunes is a huge boost in damage.
if your unique only other -resist source is Flickering Flame (-10):
- against an enemy with 0 resist is a global +77% damage (1.95/1.1) (almost x2)
- against an enemy with 50 resist is a global +141% damage (1.45/0.6) (almost x2.5)
- against an immune is a global +110% damage (0.32/0.15) (x2)

All I'm saying is dead in one hit, is dead in one hit. Excess overflow damage is superfluous.
In Lod, I would have to agree with ya though as immune is immune.

I use Infinity + Holy Freeze on my merc for 8ppl, and also upped eth Guardian Angel /w Um + Kira's Guardian /w Um for Cannot be Frozen. I think this is the best tank for gathering a group of monsters, overwriting enemys Conviction, and defending against elemental/phys attacks.
Good day to you partner!
I'm Saul Goodman and I can already tell that I'll be your best friend in this forsaken camp.

I've actually got both of those flopping around in my box (Kira and an upped GA)

Sorry I misunderstood the comment ...
If you don't want more damage, neither more hit chance ( Conviction reduces enemies defense too), so... no much reason to use Infinity if you use Flame Rift ( Flame Rift will affect everyone you hit while some monster may be out of Conviction's range, and Conviction will not be able to break some fire immunes - more than the cold ones, but less than the lightning ones)

Also, I've got a bunch of facets sitting around, I just can't justify using them at this point on this build. For the reasons above.

For low players count 1-3, naaah it's a waste. For players 8, probably yeah.
As I stated before (on Fred's post I think?), if my tests/comparisons are correct then the best combo you can get on Demon Enchantress is if you would to wear Magefist + Demon Machine socketed with Shael and other standard gear. I might be wrong, but that was my conclusion at least. Think I also used Act 2 Merc with Blessed Aim just because AR is kinda problem to stack there (not that it matters for the explosion but for the actual fire/phy dmg from Enchant and DM).
Edit: And for Merc's gear, you can easily get away with something far more budget -- usually you want to stack enough LL/max res.

Someone much smarter than me already said once: "The real value of something doesn't reflect in a number of how much a seller can ask for it, but on how much a buyer is willing to pay."

I mean, I guess I could see it being useful vs the ubers and the like 5 types of enemies I listed above. Maybe Baal?

Unless Infinity is enough to break the immunes from where you normally farm and without Flame Rift penalty you could swap some equipment for better non-fire resist ones...

I've never tried bowchantress on ubers, but the most dangerous enemy there is Mephisto. His aura can't be overwritten unless there is a paladin with higher Conviction in the team. And the Demon Machine is not as effective against single targets.BoringTitle wrote: 3 months ago I mean, I guess I could see it being useful vs the ubers and the like 5 types of enemies I listed above. Flickering Flame is actually one of the equipment you could swap without Flame Rift
(other helm with two sockets could give you the -10 fire piece with two Rainbow Facet: Fire Death if you still want it - like Crown of Ages or a "god" rare Diadem)

Sure, but +3 fire skills is +3 fire skills. I'd actually consider it the one piece I cannot swap out. (With the sunder or without.)
I could probably just run her naked with just Flickering Flame and the Crossbow lol.

I'll probably be trying to make another FF soon, aiming for the -15 resist. Not holding my breath though.

Lol, she would probably be alright for just buffing everyone. But I would use a dedicated uber farm character myself.

Alright, so it seems to me if I wanted to run an act 2 merc with this build. Insight on a Prayer merc will be the direction I am going to attempt.
The Iron Golem and Oak Sage have just awful stats and I guess hp regen might compensate slightly. They are always going to have horrid stats mind you. This won't fix that at all. But with maxed Telekinesis and Energy Shield it might help to prevent situations where I can't Teleport due to getting smacked by a couple gloams.
This is like, the first time I've actually appreciated having sunder charms...
Still basically an auto include for a lightning sorceress, though maybe even on higher player count like we discussed above.
In the mean time it's kinda nice to try something new for a change. And Frenzy Barbarian is dirty, dirty pool.
