On mine, what I did:

Cham
in
Helm
for cbf
Ias+ED in armor (got 31ed for not too much)
ED+minD or MaxD in sword (minD is less expensive and good with the possible low rolls on
Cryptic Sword
)

Off hand is Plague in
Eth
mythique sword.

Main: Necromancer / Second: Assassin / Third: Amazon / Check my stash and my crafts including my caster belts :), and my many cheap
Annihilus
/ Accepting payment in L or NL currency though I only play NL

assuming
Frenzy
merc-
Eth
in the weapon, Hustle in the 2nd weapon
[both for mercs ar problems]

Cham
in the
Helm
seconded.
FHR in the armor (so..
Shael
)
and a ED jwl in the weapon.

If you like health,
String of Ears
is much better option. 8% Life Stolen Per Hit loved it on my hamerdian. Spiral hammer on large group of enemies you fully healed.

This seems uninformed, unless I am the uninformed one.
Barbarian mercs did not have a hit recovery animation in pre-resurrected, and I highly doubt they do now. Thus
Shael
in armor is redundant.
Hopefully this is helpful.

I won't argue against that data existing in a database, the issue is that without an animation, those numbers are moot.
The barbarian merc (pre resurrected) could not be interrupted in any form. It could not be knockbacked nor could it be interrupted by
Stun
. So the question becomes, did they fix this when they introduced the new act 5 merc, or not.
I will have to check, but even if they fixed it for the new Fury merc, surely the old one wasn't addressed.

@Skaijuice
I did the testing.

Blunderbores, and their variants, have no effect at all on the act 5 merc.
Mind Blast
from assassin can
Stun
, but not knock back, and not interrupt.
Barbarian
Stun
can
Stun
, as can warcry, but they can't interrupt an attack.
Bash
can't knock back, does only damage.
Recovery before/after
Stun
duration is 0 frames. The animation is simply not there. No staggering at all. And obviously no blocking.

In conclusion, FHR is pointless for act 5 mercenary. You should pick something else than
Shael
.

This is also why the act 5 barbarian is (was back in 1.10 at least) popular in PvP. Even if an assassin is namelocking you with
Mind Blast
, you can
Teleport
ontop of them and the hireling is guaranteed to get a few hits in. Same with fire traps, hammers, blizzard, and other such setups that are hard to deal with due to instant staggering.

i put
Ruby
jewels in each piece (35-40 ed)
Hustle in an
Eth
Mythical Sword
2nd hand
a niche merc, but fun esp. when bos kicks in...
