Description

At first, I must say that this is a hypothetical char that I built on Maxroll. However, I'd like to hear the opinions about it.

What I focus while I plan is mainly max resistances possible above 200 total regarding the Uber visits and add some DR and elemental absorb possibilities. This is a hammer-
Smite
hybrid build and of course, without Enigma it is not actually handsome. So, I'd like to hear about the changes that can be done or other insights for the time when I or someone else actually tries it.

Can be used to make Runewords:

* I trade both ladder and non-ladder, please check before asking.

Not an expert on pally (yet), but I've got one that's somewhat similar to this and he's pretty strong.

Couple items you listed only seem to be there for the res absorb tho, and may be overkill and not helping much, such as Blackthorns Face and
The Rising Sun
. Would have to test to see if you really need them. And how about
Thundergod's Vigor
+
Raven Frost
instead of
Snowclash
and Wisp? Adds Cannot be frozen (didnt see that anywhere else, unless you
Cham
your
Helm
).

When I'm not slaying demons, I'm usually out hiking mountains.

The flat fire absorb from
The Rising Sun
is more than enough. You don't need
Infernostride
,
Hellmouth
,
Dwarf Star
.
You need the flat dmg reduction from
Sol
.
Flat absorb > % absorb

Relax and have fun!

When I have enough time I'll test this on offline for sure and see how things go with Ubers especially. But thanks for your ideas. Changing amulet maybe create to equip Exile or Grief according to FCR bp. And yeah, CBF is a must so Ravenfrost is.

Which gears would you choose for this hybrid and for pure Smiter? I'd like to see them both have 95% ress and 250+
Cap
with DR. Also, if we go with Spirit we have magic absorb.

Melee and caster are geared differently.
This hybrid doesn't have CB, OW and flat damage from Grief.

I will go for
Zeal
/Smiter.
Griswold's Valor
=> Cold Absorbs
T-god => Lightning Absorb
The Rising Sun
=> Fire Absorb
Gerke's Sanctuary
+
Sol
=> Dmg reduction

Relax and have fun!

Are these enough, when you consider Ubers? TG for example for Uber Meph?

Fade
from Treachery (60 All Res) +
Salvation
(100 All Res) give you 160 more Res.
I never tested it but it should be fine.

Relax and have fun!

Flat absorb > % absorb
Actually, that is sadly not quite true for a paladin.

Sol
or more generally damage reduced and magic damage reduced are not the same as absorb.
They are phenomenal for an ES sorc (and make other absorb obsolete oftentimes) because they apply after
Energy Shield
already takes away most of the incoming damage. However, unlike actual absorb, the damage reduction effects apply before resistances.

So as an ES sorc, say you take 100 dmg and your ES removes 90% of that, you are left with 10 damage. Having 10 or more dmg reduction takes that down to 0 damage left, before your resistances are ever even applied.

As a pally however, without ES, you would take 100 dmg starting out. 10 dmg reduction would then take that down to 90. And after that, your resistances are applied. So say you're looking at fire dmg and 95 res, you are still left with 4 dmg taken.
If you had a mere 5 absorb on the other hand, you would take 100 dmg, your res takes it down to 5 dmg and 5 absorb would then take it down to 0. Or rather, it'd take it to -5 because it reduces by 5 and heals you for 5 which is why enough absorb not only makes you immune to that dmg type but actually makes it heal you.

Basically, for a non-sorc, absorb far, FAR outweighs dmg reduction.

Though I would agree that rising sun alone should be enough fire absorb for probably everything when combined with 95 res.
Dwarf Star
and the like are overkill. Additionally, if you are looking at resistances that high, I would probably ignore % absorb entirely and focus on absolute absorb alone. There won't be many elemental attacks that would hit you hard enough through 95 res to make % absorb really still needed/worth it.

Thanks a lot! Can I request a set up as built and gear approach including Ubers? Without Enigma hammer is not so viable so
Zeal
-
Smite
or any other suggestion? Gear choice?

Yes, I doubt that is not enough.
Even with dmg reduction from
Stormshield
.
While being cursed by
Amplify Damage
, it hurts.

Okay, some modifications:
-I'd like to go with
Zeal
/
Smite
hybrid since it seemed the most effective without Enigma in use.
-Grief and Exile in use.
-Added
Raven Frost
for CBF instead of
Dwarf Star
.
-TGod's instead of
Snowclash
so LA I get direct absorb.
-CoA as
Helm
. It's painfully expensive but this is just an experiment so why not?
- Questions: What I need, DR or %DR? I can use the sockets from CoA accordingly. Or
Cham
in it and something else in place of
Raven Frost
?
-Best glove option: LoH or maybe
Steelrend
to maximise damage output?
-Need open wounds of course so GR is a good option as
Boots
?
-Any other suggestions?
-It seems with
Fade
and
Salvation
, resist caps are completely okay. But how much IAS do I need to use
Salvation
with
Smite
?

IAS breakpoints using
Smite
with a phaseblade without fanta aura:

IAS attack speed [ticks] attacks per second
0 l 9 l 2.77
5 l 8 l 3.12
24 l 7 l 3.57
65 l 6 l 4.16

On players 1 an average attack deals around 100 damage. A
Sol
rune will reduce that damage to 93. A
Ber
rune or 8% damage reduction will reduce it to 92. On players 8 you can expect closer to 190 damage per a monster attack. The
Sol
rune brings it to 183 but the 8% damage reduction is far better at 175 damage taken.

If you combine the two types the amount of damage reduced by a
Sol
rune is diminished by the same percentage as the DR% you have. If you have 10 flat damage reduction and 10% damage reduction. 100 damage would be reduced like so 100>90>81. Ultimately if you have a large amount of % damage reduction like COA+
Fade
, let's say 30% DR then a
Sol
rune's 7 damage reduction would only save you 4 more damage as opposed to the 7 you get without any % damage reduction.

I'm sorry, this could be considered as off-topic, but I have to ask: "invincible sorc"??

It is
Energy Shield
Sorc with some absorb and reduction gear.
