New A5 Merc

Hi everyone. Wanna hear about your thoughts about the new

Frenzy Barb Merc and how you want to gear him.

I think that Last Wish (i wish i had one...) and Lawbringer, both in

Phase Blade, could be an awesome combo

Seems to be decent, depending on what you're doing.

Generally speaking, auras are too hard for any other merc to compete with on all-round chars or any char that does their own killing.

I would however consider this one as a new trav runner for my horker (i.e. get rid of the cold dmg reaper's adds). For that, CoT and Fortitude are obvious givens. Then add 2 swords that come with enough procs/whatever to take out phys immunes acceptably quick and be done with it.

Seems to work decently well but ultimately hard to judge on PTR because the bases are crap.

Ignoring the phys immune part, dual Grief (not surprisingly) actually results in more than solid dmg on his part. The problem is, their AR seems to be complete and utter trash. He literally misses 6-7 out of 8 swings.

Vampire Gaze with Fortitude. Last Wish PB and Plague PB.

So far he really doin a great job and an catch up to a2 merc. 2 auras on that tank boy works fine.

Cannot be Frozen and

Cleansing aura combined with

Fade and Lifetap procc keep him alive very well and support my

Strafe ama better than I expected.

You actually lvl'd up and farmed in ptr ladder to get all that? :O

I see the need of CoT over andy for the dex bonus to make him wield pbs, but may be Treachery a good choice instead of Fortitude? Just to give some ias that s completely missing in Last Wish and Lawbringer. I don t know the breakpoints for mercs tho. Said that, i must confess i always take in consideration my builds that are melee only, if you have caster build you might find better/cheaper weapons than those i mentioned, not desperately needing

Decrepify and might aura in some cases

He benefits from my Faith too. So

Fanaticism seem to help him out a lot to hit stuff.

Lo and then some, farmed up within 1.5 days while also lvling from scratch?

I do wish to learn your farming secrets good chap.
(Or is there some way to get the mules on PTR into ladder that I haven't discovered yet?)

Nono that's hero edited ptr offline.

I test all ptr stuff that is Endgame based like that, cause they give us shitty system to test.

Will swap to regular once they think about what they do for ptr gear testing.

Not all. Plague f. E. Don't work Hero Edited. So I created it hero edited as a non rune word item.

I will level and play regular when real ladder starts.

For now iamonly interested in Endgame builds to figure out what of the new stuff I will go for

Also thinking about A5 setup like this:

Helm: G-Face with

Cham
Armor: Fortitude
Mainhand: Grief
Offhand: Last Wish

This gives my Merc in Total:
100% Crushing Blow (Last Wish + G-Face)
Sick Damage of Grief
300% Enhanced Damage
Cannot be frozen

So this should turn him into a Unkillable Boss shredder.

Con to Plague setup is that you have to deal with nasty curses and Poisoned again and Merc has no natural leech.

I'm considering early ladder, and more budget. I know you are thinking of endgame, so we are on two different wavelengths which is cool.


In the past I've ran a5 mercs using a Lawbringer built into a

Legend Sword, the damage is good, but the decrep application can sometimes become inconsistent. I'm hoping decrep will have more uptime, as I don't want other effects like

Taunt getting in the way.


If get a hold of a

Cham I might go Plague/Lawbringer but I'm concerned with

Lower Resist being an issue.

I wonder if an

Eth

Headstriker or 2 would be any good? This is one of my favorite changes in the new patch.

Headstriker is the highest dmg dealing weapon for act 5 merc. You have to ask yourself, if you want to have the highest dmg dealing merc as opposed to, for example, Last Wish + Lawbringer which is useful to you as well.

Any opinion how to get to the 136 dex for the merc? Without attribute boost this is reached at lvl 93/94 or so, correct?

I do believe you already get to that at lvl 86 so you shouldn't have to worry about gearing to get it.
