Trading stuff for in-game gold

There's tons of information here, so sorry if I missed it.

The question in the title - is it legal here? Or legal but meaningless for some reason? (I don't remember if I saw a one such trade here.)

- but gold only serves for gambling, and is a matter of pure luck with low chance to get something good, so most people prefer playing and gambling just their extra gold.

Ist. Not sure if that still happens, but anyway, to sum up, gold has little value so no one bothers.

Well, for me at my stage, gambling is still of interest, so I don't see anything wrong with asking for it if it's less valuable to someone than gems.
